  1. I thought it would be fun to set up a photo share site for my siblings. We each live in different states and only get to see each other every other year. In the mean time our children are growing up fast! I am hoping for a site that we can download pictures and add captions. I have used Shutterfly for a school event, but we had problems downloading the pics when we needed them for a slideshow. Any other options besides Shutterfly or Facebook?

    Thanks!!

  2. Ditto split pea soup. That is one of my family's favorites.

    These refried beans are great:

Also, if you can get this book from your library she has some great suggestions relating to crock pot:

  3. Can you call them and confirm that they delivered it? I would eat it if they can confirm it.

My ds went to school in the same strip mall as an EA. They would sometimes bring free samples to the carpool lane, but it was like one bite size. So good!

I can't imagine them delivering full arrangements all over town to drum up business. Someone must of sent it to you, or EA thinks you are very important.

    Enjoy!

  4. My weight spikes like that when I eat high sodium content. Just drink lots of water today and veggies with lean protein. Hopefully, you will get rid off that water by tomorrow's weigh-in. If not, don't stress out because it will come off at the scales the follow week.

That happened to me when I ate imitation crab meat and a few other salty things the day before a weigh-in. The next day my weight was up instead of showing the 1 1/2 I lost. The following week I showed a record 4 pound lost, so it all works out in the end.

Congrats on your weight loss. That is fantastic!

  5. :iagree:

In general Texas is a big football and cheerleading state so signs that say "N.M. Cheerleader/football players" live here are also common.

When we first moved to DFW from CA I freaked out when I saw my first "Blank Cheerleader Lives Here" sign. To me it was like asking for trouble to advertise that a young teenage girl lived in this specific house.

When I lived in CA, as MOPS leaders were not allowed to put our last name in our brochure for our personal protection. The police said that our address could be traced from our last name. Also it was recommended that we not put any bumper stickers on our cars that mentioned we were female or moms.

Guess things are different in TX.

  6. Not homeschool, but we went with the small charter school option. Our charter school is publicly funded, but it feels like a private school. We have been there 3 years and there is nothing with the public funding issue that has concerned me.

Our middle school is about 225 students. Advantage is that it is a small family feel. The teachers go above and beyond, and the administrator know everyone by name the first week. The downside is that they have more homework then public and less sports teams. The other downside is that there is no after care, so someone would need to be available to pick your children up right when school lets out.

Good luck. Praying that you work things out.

  7. I painted our laminate bathroom cabinets following the instructions at this link:

    http://www.centsationalgirl.com/2011/01/bathroom-q-a-giveaway/

I painted them chocolate brown and with satin nicket hardware and them came out great.

Our walls are pale blue/grey, (Tranquility by BM). I love blue and grey together so go for it! I thinking painting them a color would add some punch to your bathroom. It sounds a little monochromatic as is.

  8. Some one told me that there are companies that run internet portals. You register with the portal company which has access to hundreds of websites. When it is time to place an order, if you access the company through the portal, then your non-profit group gets a certain percent of the purchase.

For example, if I wanted to order curtains from JC Penney, I would acces the JC Penney website from the portal, and then place my order with JC Penney. The non-profit would then get a 1% kickback of my curtain purchase.

Does anyone know anything about this? Our school booster club would like to set this up to capitalize on internet orders made by parents of the school, but I have no idea how to google that.

Does anyone know what I am talking about?? Any referrals?

  9. For teaching reading I set the timer for 20 minutes and we worked at it everyday. We started with Teaching Your Child to Read in 100 EZ Lessons. The added Phonics Pathways around lesson 50. We moved on to easy reader after that. Once my ds was in beginner chapter books we increase time to 30 minutes.

After he was reading on his own, we tracked the books he read with a huge book worm taped to the wall.
