  1. Days: 1/16 (Four days per week- I'm just trying to be realistic)

Hours: 35 min average per time (C25K program and water aerobics) 35 min/9+ hours

    Mileage: 2/24 miles

I did my C25K run today... 25 min running and 10 min walking (5 before, 5 after). TBH I did slow to a walk for sixty seconds at two points in the run. It was a FAST walk though. I have never run for 25 min before in my life.

  2. I maintained my weight this week, after tracking all week and exercising 4 times. I'm just a little sad, but it is that TOM so maybe the weight will fall off next week. I'm hoping so.

ETA: so the very next days, so 8 days OP, 2.5 lb had melted away! Yippeeeee!

  3. How awesome to find this awaiting me!

YES, I did it and it was both hard and not as hard as I thought it would be. It made me feel powerful and I have a feeling my kids would tell me to quit running if they realized powerful Mommy is a little more demanding, a little more consistent, a little less of a pushover.

I am so excited and cannot believe that in 1.5 weeks I'll be doing 25 min for three days in a row (IIRC).

  4. I do think it is important for mommies, especially homeschooling mommies, to be aware that they have personal needs and to make sure they meet those needs. It's like changing the oil in a car, or putting gas in the tank. If you abuse the car it won't take you anywhere.

For me, I have only this year (youngest is 3 now) regained my balance with regard to Mommy Needs.

I need: Personal devotional time daily, exercise time daily, food/nutrition planning time weekly, and socialization time at least a couple of times each month. Getting these activities accomplished is just as important in my view as putting gas in the car.

  5. I weighed for the first time this morning in a very long time. I'm down 3 lb from my start weight. I'm not yet comfortable sharing my actual weight, but I promise to do so if I can get down 10 lb more so that I feel I've established a downward trend.

  6. When our little pooper looper was 6 I had to have "remedial potty class" with him. I think it was because he was so anxious to get back to his favorite activities. Bodily functions were taking a back seat to entertainment!

He soon discovered that Mommy's remedial potty class a couple times each day was much more time consuming than just doing his job properly.

We covered such topics as how many squares of TP is needed (he was doing a little piece mashed into a rosette- not very effective) and how many times to swipe before flushing. We transitioned from assisted toilet sessions to "check" sessions as we had done when he was 4. It did not take long. He's a quiet sensitive boy too, but I think the experience strengthened our relationship. I was very matter of fact and light hearted about the whole thing. There was no shame involved nor recriminations.

  7. In my home, the babies were always fussy at dinner time. I think it was a combination of Mommy being busy getting dinner on the table, the other kids being tired and grouchy, and everyone being hungry.

My solution was to have dinner earlier or pre-prepped so that I could tend to baby during the fussy time.

Do you have the kind of relationship with the mother that you could gift her with some "melt in your mouth" finger foods for baby? She's likely aching to put things in her mouth.

  8. If it helps any, we moved from a church like the one your friends moved TO and began attending a church like the one you attend. I *puffy heart love* it.

I was exhausted with mothering children through church. We don't have the children's church though, and I guess I am glad my 7yo and 11yo are with us in church (not that it makes any difference to your post )

I am thoroughly enjoying having my OWN Sunday School and my OWN worship without the demands of my toddler which I respond to 24/7 the rest of the week.

I am tickled pink that my sons are making Christian friends in Sunday School and at Awana, and that my oldest will be moving to the "students" group in the fall. There is so much for him to learn about being with other Christian kids and about having his OWN relationship with Christ.

  9. I am in a C25K program right now. I have made it to the last day of week 4, so day 12/27. I am totally scared of the last day of week 5. It is a 20 min run I believe. I am currently running 16 min spread out over a half hour, with 5 min increments being the largest ones. I sometimes think I am insane, other times I realize I am desperate.

  10. I'm Jennifer C-

When I was a young adult I was at my current goal weight on WW. Sadly, in those days men were "allowed" to weigh about 30 lb more than women, so I thought I had 30 lb yet to lose. I often wonder how much different my weight cycle would have been had I realized I was at a healthy weight then.

I got to my goal weight using the "core" plan on WW in 2005. That lasted all of the six week maintenance period. I earned my lifetime membership and started re-gaining. I have a hypothyroid condition too.

I am currently at my highest weight ever. I exercise a few times each week, and am attempting a Couchto5K program as well as water aerobics.

I am very uninspired as far as my eating at the moment. I have an active WW mobile membership (online and on my phone) but I don't utilize it.

I would like to do something like Nance has done if I could be sure it would work for me. It's certainly worth a try!

Oh, I have about 80 lb to lose.

  11. We have a huge space for school / play / family time in our basement. I would not use it if it were not bright with outside access and a bathroom attached. We sometimes move upstairs to the kitchen in early spring when I am not running the heat in the house as much because it gets quite chilly down there, but other than that, we love our big school room. I would not use a converted bedroom, probably...

I am the kind of person that likes having everything in its place--i don't like school stuff (i.e. papers, notebooks, and experiments and projects) spread all over the house. In our big room it is possible to spread out and stay organized at the same time.

This is us. We have an awesome family room/school room which is nicely lighted with lots of comfortable seating and privacy when the kids need it for seatwork (one kid goes around the corner in my bedroom). We started out there last fall, but in January when the days were short and dusky we migrated upstairs to the light and warmth. The migration also seemed to correspond with a time of becoming more efficient with schoolwork and spending less time on it, in order to prioritize some other items like Mom's exercise schedule. We are planning to do the same again--- start in the downstairs and migrate up when the weather and our desire dictates.

  12. Now that i know what you mean by your questions, I answered incorrectly. I do believe there is real sorcery being practiced today (not HP type stuff) and I do believe there are demons with supernatural powers. I had assumed that's what you meant by magical powers. Don't believe in HP type stuff. There are certainly people who cast spells, but I'm not sure whether that has real effect.

    Chocolate answer still stands.

    :iagree:

As far as the people casting spells, I don't think that always works because I think God is ultimately in control. If it is a person who believes in that kind of thing on the receiving end and they believe it will work, while the one on the casting end also believes it, it's likely the spell will "work". I'm not talking about turning people into toady frogs, though, KWIM?
