  1. We use MM as our only curriculum, and I got the all inclusive CD...I did not want to store all of that info on my computer, so I got the CD...I also like the option of being able to use the blue if we need to review a certain topic, or the gold because it is set up as a one page worksheet for tutoring... So I guess my advice would be to go for either the all inclusive or the light blue...Unless you are only using it for help with specific topics, I wouldn't get the blue only...The light blue comes with a lot more info...
  2. We are using MM 1A for our kindergarten year...We plan to start 1B when he is in first grade next school year...Though if he finishes this one, we will just keep going...
  3. Wow, that was really fast!...Only day two!...They just sent me an email about it going 40% :D
  4. You are released! :auto: If you want to do something else, feel free...I have not finished every curricula I have started, esp when my oldest was young...I try to stick with stuff now that he is older...But I also have a 4.5 year old and would switch up with him if something better came along...
  5. I feel like a person watching the stock market!...Checking the HSBC to see how high the number of buyers for MM has risen :tongue_smilie:
  6. I just ordered as well...It is at 30% now on day two, that is a good sign...I suspect lots will wait until it is closer to the end... I am really hoping for that 40%, and feel we will get it ;)
  7. :iagree: I would read this first...For a taste of what it is about, you can get Susan Wise Bauer's audio download called "The Joy of Classical Homeschooling"...It is only 99 cent on their website and I really enjoyed this talk...So did my husband and he generally hates lectures and talks :tongue_smilie: http://www.welltrainedmind.com/store/the-joy-of-classical-education-introduction-to-classical-education-at-home-mp3.html The Well Trained Mind has helped me so much planning and choosing curricula for everything, not just history...I highly recommend it...
  8. We are using Mystery of History...I am reading The Well Trained Mind book and there are also many suggestions for doing the four year cycle of history... Welcome to the forum :-) http://www.themysteryofhistory.info/index.shtml
  9. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I bought the light blue and the blue, and the worksheet generator only came with the light blue package...The blue package is just the work and the answers...All the "extra" stuff comes with the light blue... If you are buying the entire set like we all have to do, I would buy the light blue before I buy the blue...The blue is specific subjects, but the light blue will cover everything...
  10. You can also get the all inclusive CD's for $115 and the books if you don't want downloads...It still only comes out to $139...I would do that because I would rather have CD's than downloads...
  11. Thanks for this post, it is very encouraging to me!...My son is 10 and started with 2B...We are getting ready to move on to 3A, and it is encouraging to see someone "catch up" and do well :D...We are doing a lot of math and he is getting it...I will share the story about your daughter with him...He finds info like that very encouraging...He feels like the only kid working below grade level sometimes...
  12. All that is needed is 50 packages total sold, of any kind...They do not need to sell 50 of the specific one you want, just 50 packages total...That is the answer they gave me  The sale just started today! :D
  13. This is our first year using MM and we love it here...I read what is said about other math programs, but I have no plans to switch to something else...The instruction has been enough for us so far, the spacing on the pages is fine, and there are not too many problems for my boys to do them all...I know people have had problems with these issues, but it has been fine for us so far...
  14. :iagree: I think we all have something to share and know something that may help some one else...Or at least think we know something that may help someone else :tongue_smilie:...I just try and remember when I am giving advice that I am not an expert on anyone else's situation...Heck, I am not even an expert on my own situation!...I just offer what has worked for me and those I know and what has not...What "works" is also subjective because people have different wants and goals in mind... Just my 2 cents that may not even be worth 1...
  15. This is true and it does matter...I feel like such a beginner because this is my first year doing classical, so this is my first year with everything we are using now...I am stuck with only saying what I like or dislike so far, but can't really give strong advice about curricula we are using, or what will happen in the future...I do also notice that there are some homeschooling experts with very young children ...I just figure it is like before I had children when I knew EVERYTHING about being a mom!...Sooner or later we all learn that we don't know everything and never will... :tongue_smilie:
  16. My oldest is 10 and we have homeschooled for 4 years...He did one year at a private school when he was 7, but was homeschooled before and after that...
  17. I think it goes live on March 1st...I used the link and can access the sale, but it is not in the math section...
  18. :iagree: Totally understand your point...
  19. This makes sense to me...I regret having a laid back attitude about my oldest son's early learning years, but I wish we did more in the first three grades of school, not necessarily preschool stuff...I don't think you have to do anything besides working on phonics and reading with a kid under six, but if you want to then that is fine...I have some R&S workbooks for my 4 year old because he wants to do school like his older brothers...But the OP asked was it necessary, and it is not...
  20. I also thought this as well...He is still in the beginning, so it may just be easy for him...
  21. Thanks for posting this!...I was planning on going with R&S Spelling, then started to worry I would miss something if I didn't do SWO, so I bought it...Now I am torn between the two :tongue_smilie:...I am leaning towards liking R&S better, just thought SWO would have stuff I would miss...
