Thanks for that info! I will definitely look into that!
This is what I have in my notes. ETA: He mentions beasts as in the animals created the day before rest. Will we run around like them?-
- Sabbath God rested; Sabbath was created for man, will we act like beasts & not acknowledge God or will we enter into the Sabbath (put down our own work & pickup the work of the Lord & enter into rest)
I ask myself how am I picking up the work of the Lord?
I don't think I would be totally opposed to athletics on Sunday unless it interfered with our 'rest' as a family. They would never be allowed to override what we do for our spirituality. I might find sitting down and watching my child play soccer or swim relaxing. But, what about the child? Is it interfering with his/her rest? That is a great dialogue to have with my child to bring them into a conscious awareness of how 'he' will enter into rest for himself.

You'd be surprised how many people don't know. Even more surprising on a homeschooling board though.
It is even more surprising to me how many Protestants don't know the history of their own church or denomination and where that church/denomination splintered from.

Testing for basal body temps is the same whether you want to test for fertility or thyroid issues. You can use any thermometer and you can test in your mouth. The other options I provided will give more accuracy regardless of what you are collecting the data for.:)

Whoa! Really? I've been through two NFP courses (CCL and Creighton) and I've never heard this. Where did you get this information?
I heard it from my NFP teacher in FL. It wasn't a CCL or Creighton course. Creighton is a mucus only method anyway. I thought she was crazy, but it makes a difference. I told this to a friend and it made a difference in her charts, too. It provides more accuracy. My friend that is a CCL teacher says she teaches her students that either one is fine. I find that vaginal temps especially help override fluctuation from taking temps at different times of day.

Any thermometer that reads to a tenth of a degree accurately is fine. Just take your temperature first thing in the morning BEFORE you get out of bed. As soon as you wake up, just roll over and grab the thermometer.
Hair falling out is very normal after having a baby. I've lost hair after each one of mine. The important thing is that there was still plenty of hair on my head. It's not like my hair was falling out and leaving bald patches. THAT would not be normal. ;) It's more like my German Shepherds... There is SO much hair, that as it falls out, you can't look at the remaining hair and notice anything is missing. :D
I buy a purple basal thermometer from CVS. I like having a purple one, to make sure that no one else uses it. I go straight into the bathroom and take my temperature vaginally. I do that to get a more accurate temperature. I try to do it at the same time every morning, because it makes for a better chart. I also keep a calendar and pen in the bathroom to write it down immediately, so I don't forget. I only chart from day 7 until after ovulation is confirmed, but when I teach people how to chart I tell them to take it every day for 6 months.
Also, I lost loads and loads of hair. It is pretty typical.

If you buy a movie/tv series from amazon.com it is stored on your Roku.
If you rent a movie from amazon.com it usually will expire in 24 or 48 hours.
I think they are stored in your amazon account.

another question - if you had roku but no cable or local tv, is there a way to watch live football games? I see that NFL network is on hulu, but dh said it's not live on hulu.
I'm a HUGE football fan. My DH said that we can only get MLB and NBA packages (i think.) We can watch a lot of college games on ESPN online on my laptop, so that is helpful there. I think you can also get ESPN live through Xbox. We saw a lot of NFL games through veetle. The quality varried, but it was free which we love.

I use regular crayons for our daily checklist. They come of easily w/ baby wipes.

I only use the Faith and Freedom Readers and English For Young Catholics as a review of grammar in the summer when I'm not doing FLL. I don't plan on ever using more than that from them, but you never know.

So if you have 2 Roku boxes, you can still use only one Netflix account or Hulu Plus account, right? If so, does it matter if you tune the boxes to different programs at the same time? In case that doesn't make sense: could ds, for example, use our Netflix account to stream an episode of The Office in one room while, at the same time, dh uses the same Netflix account to stream an episode of Criminal Minds? (That might actually be more of a Netflix question than a Roku question, huh?)
Yes, we use one netflix account and one amazon account (though we never rent anything there) for both ROKUs. And we can stream them and anything on my laptop at the same time. My only complaint about ROKU is that sometimes I have to unplug it once or twice to get it to come up. If it doesn't show the correct time, then I have to unplug it and start over. Other than that, we love it.
Streaming IS the future of TV. I've actually boxed up most of my DVDs and will probably sell them after we move. I'm not missing them at all. Less clutter for someone who despises clutter. I'm that way w/ CD's now to. Once I get a way to play my shuffle in the van, I'll be done w/ CD's:auto::D

Kristinannie, I'm pretty sure you are Catholic, so I wanted to add that Jeff Cavins does a really nice job on this topic in the Great Adventure Bible Series. I'll try to go back to my notes and post some of his thoughts.

Really? 12 months? I would have loved that.
I breastfed exclusively and still got it 4-5 weeks after birth in full force......every time! GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!
Dawn
Yes, I was blessed. :D I thought I'd get it back sooner w/ DD, because she was the first to sleep in a different room, but it was still 12 months.

With longer periods you either ovulate later or not at all. When I have really long cycles after fertility returns (35-44 days) I ovulate very late. Then I go back to average ranges. It can take a lot of guess work and stress off to chart. I had a stressful trip to a funeral a few months back. I ovulated late, because of the stress. I never worried about it, because my chart showed that, and I knew I'd have a longer cycle that month. Best of luck.

I try to not do any unnecessary work, some dishes when needed. No laundry, etc.... I like a clean house, so I have to fight the temptation to use time when DH is home to catch up. I really try to make it quality family time. I try to do Bible study, although I'm doing that more than on Sundays right now. For me, the key thing is to rest.

The only thing I miss is Mr. Rogers. My kids loved watching that show, and it had a very calming affect on our house. Other than that I didn't see anything worth paying for.

How do you get BBC and CNN to stream to your Roku?
Dawn
Go to thenowhereman.com/roku (says my DH who is explaining this to me)
there are lots of CNN shows replayed on Roku newscaster, but we added CNNIntenational and BBC streaming channels through nowhere man. that is also where we watch NCAA tournament. We were able to watch the last debate on CNN International

I appreciate this post. I would modify your statement a bit as in red but thank you for understanding my point.
:grouphug: Thanks for the modification.

I have had experiences with referring to people as Protestant that don't think of themselves as Protestant. It makes for an interesting conversation. To me it is cut and dry. If you consider Luther a hero you are Protestant. If you don't you are not. As the wikipedia page on Protestant states, it is widely accepted that there are three branches of Christianity: Catholicism, Orthodoxy, and Protestantism. With the first two there are universal doctrines. Since the latter is an umbrella of churches that don't believe in creeds or doctrine, it makes conversations like this frustrating. Momoflaw I see how this could be frustrating for you. I also saw that you haven't lived in the Southern US, and I think that is where a lot of these experiences are rooted. I don't think they are contained to that area, but the churches in other areas that have these mentalities that so many of us have experienced were likely rooted there. I've seen these experiences at a tiny Baptist church and a huge megachurch. Those are about as extreme as you can get from each other in Protestantism and everything that has been shared here I saw there. Of course this was in the South.

It looks like your ?s were already answered. I'll tell you what we watch:
Netflix (8.00/Mo)
MLB package (which we purchased for 99.00) We get all games except for local blackouts. Our 2 teams are not local, so that works for us:)
NBC nightly news (not streaming, but replay) (FREE)
60 minutes excerpts (free)
CNN International (which is way better than CNN or Foxnews, nobody yells at eachother) (FREE)
BBC (FREE)
RTE (Irleand's news) (FREE)
Korean tv shows (FREE)
Pandora Radio (free) I have that on almost all day.
Youtube (free)
NCAA basketball tournament (FREE)
We had amazon prime for a month for free. That was nice, but I don't feel like paying for it right now. If I watched more TV shows, I'd get hulu plus, but I really don't feel the need right now. I can still watch hulu on my laptop. I don't watch as much TV as I used to.
You can look through all their channels to see what you want to add. Some are free, and some aren't. I LOVE roku. We have 2 boxes.

This is one of the more misunderstood teachings of the RCC. As she said above, the RCC believes you can have salvation outside of the RCC. It also believes that the Catholic Church is the 'vehicle' through which Jesus brings his salvation, even to Christians that are in a church with no apostolic succession.

i'm not there yet, but i chart my cycles. i would be looking to see where my temps were. that is how i handled the 12 months w/ no periods after birth.

Not that that guarantees that he wasn't also a Catholic.... being an atheist doesn't take away the mark of baptism.
Yes, but he'd be a non-practicing Catholic.

I just find Confirmation frustrating. Our diocese won't allow it before 10th grade. But if you are an unbaptized child coming in through RCIC, you can have all the sacraments done in a year at age 8. So we have parents who just don't baptize and do this as their way of getting it all done at once. But parents who do follow the rules are stuck with the bureaucracy until high school and are told that the diocese doesn't confirm before 10th grade. It just doesn't sit well with me. Personal rant over. ;)
I know someone that wanted their daughter to receive 1st Communion in 1st grade, because they felt she was ready. Their parish wouldn't do it, but they were able to have a friend priest help them out. I might look into something like that if I'm met w/ red tape.

A Franciscan, a Dominican, and a Jesuit were miraculously transported to witness the birth of Jesus. They each had different reactions to the sight of the Virgin Mary, Joseph and the infant Jesus.
The Franciscan fell on his face, overcome with awe at the sight of God born in such poverty.
The Dominican fell to his knees, adoring the beautiful reflection of the Holy Family.
The Jesuit walked up to Joseph, put his arm around his shoulder, and said, "So, have you thought about where to send the boy to school?"
Catholic humor, hahaha.
And happyhappyjoyjoy said, "A DOMINICAN SCHOOL!"

Ok, that word makes me want to break out Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. That is exactly what Willy Wonka would say.
