  1. I really don't do experiments. I LOVE nature study, but experiments are definitely not going to happen. just bein honest.

Ok. So my question is: Can I just READ and have the kids NARRATE from the Apologia books and call it good? Who has done this? Does it work well, or does it seem disjointed?

  2. I LOVE the books for HOD. . .I mean LOVE them. But all those handsy onsy activities are not for me. And my kids are more "lets get this done"

If ds like history, how about Story of the World? Read the chapter, do the narration question and a little mapping, maybe read another book. .. and DONE.

    Other suggestions. . .

Sonlight- this is reading. . .but its always looked like a LOT

Simply Charlotte Mason- Modules follow biblical history. . .mostly reading and narrating

    Mystery of History

    Hope this helps :grouphug:

  3. NAPTIME!!!

Your oldest is 6, so I would try to get as much schoolwork done as possible during naptime.

My kids are 8, 6, 3, and 1 1/2. . .and I'm trying to take my own advice on this. My 1 yr old dd is constantly climbing up on the table, crying, and playing with the computer etc. . .

My big kids can work atleast twice as efficiently when it is quiet and they have my full attention.

Oh how it would be nice to be done before lunch. . .someday. ;)

  4. Are any of you crossing problems out or does it really only take 20-30 min a day? We started CLE this year but both dds (3rd and 5th) spend an hour on math every day. That's with my teaching before they start and I don't cross out any problems. I'm just curious and it surprised me. Thanks!

It only takes us 30 minutes all together. . .when we first started in lightunit 107 (we're in the 300's now), it actually took longer, because ds didn't know his math facts well. But now that he has them DOWN PAT, everything goes REALLY quickly.

    Hope this helps:D

  5. Can I ask you which ones you used for your little ones? Did you enjoy it?

    We have used golden guides:)

We have enjoyed them; the pictures are nice. Very simple. My 8 yr old likes to read through them. But we've used them more like: "let's learn about robins" as opposed to "gee. . .I wonder what that bird is that I'm unfamiliar with" I'd like to do more of the latter.
