  1. DH plans on calling our agent at some point, but he's so busy at work and I'm working on my "to-do" list for us. :) Could someone who has State Farm insurance comment on how much your insurance went up when you added a student driver? DS is 15 and we are thinking ahead to driver's ed. I've heard the amounts can be atrocious! Any advice would be appreciated.
  2. Yes, every time and then sometimes they don't work. It also brings up a box that says "allow once", "allow always", and the allow once is the only one that works. Nothing operates the same and it's only been since updating to El Capitan. There's so many irritating things that I can't remember them all.
  3. Apps won't work, boxes pop up every time for my admin log in for regular stuff like photos and never had to do that before, and many more things I can't think of right now. It's been so annoying!
  4. Who is your provider? We use a hotspot and the TPS system test didn't work for us yet. We are changing carriers and getting a booster. Hoping that will help. Only satellite and hotspot are our options. No dsl either. :-/
  5. I have a dear friend that has used TPS for a couple of years now and loves it! She loves that it's rigorous, all their teachers have been great and it is Christian and they pray for their students. I can't speak to your specific courses, but my friend has had a wonderful experience with TPS and will continue with them throughout her children's education.
  6. This sounds like what TPS uses, but the name of their system is GP5. I'll look into the adaptor and booster, too.
  7. Yes, never full bars. We currently have ATT, but we are changing to TMobile. The TMobile agent I spoke to lives in rural Maine and takes an online class and does fine. They also offer a booster if the signal is weak. TPS did say we might have to go to a coffee shop or something. Would getting full bars help? We could go somewhere if we had to if it's just a full bar problem. There may be hope?
  8. We don't have a Uverse type option or even DSL so we have to use a hotspot for internet connection. Does anyone else use this type of connection and take online classes successfully? TPS has said that it likely won't work and I tried testing the system they use and I cannot successfully pass their audio test. :( I really need this to work out. Help!
  9. I'm thinking ahead for the next school year and wondering what we would do if problems occurred during the year. What do you do?
  10. I know about Notgrass and like it, but have heard it's not very rigorous. What else is there? Needs to be done at home. I would prefer an option that doesn't include me and can either be done by another "teacher" (maybe dvd's like BJU?...we can't do online right now due to no good home internet connection and we also go through our data quickly already) or a self teaching curriculum. I would love to have it be literature based, but how can that be made into a course that could count for a credit? Thanks.
  11. Would they allow a 15 year old to take it and just that one class? I looked at them last year and it just seems hard for us to get started with them at this age with all the pre-reqs and they also required more than one class be taken or have already been taken through them to enroll. I just haven't considered them again.
  12. He just doesn't seem to have a grasp of writing, the writing process, structure, organization, etc. We've done IEW in the past and Write at Home last year and this year so he's not been without instruction and direction. But, he either isn't transferring what he knows or he doesn't really know/understand. We've been focused homeschoolers all his life, not unschoolers, but I've also not been the driven, overachieving homeschool teacher/parent. I say that because maybe this is a hole I've caused? He is at the age where another voice/teacher is more needed because he's not really "listening" to me and my help/direction and just thinks I want him to do it "my way" instead of it being "the way" and it ends up being a session of butting heads. :-/ Is there a mini-mester type thing he could do over the summer or something like that? I really don't think a self-teaching textbook type option is what he needs unless it's really good and understandable. I have Beyond the Book Report the 3rd season/section from the Analytical Grammar folks that I was told might help, but if there is another option I'd be happy to hear it! Thanks.
  13. 3 and the hot spot. The hot spot won't be needed once we get the home internet.
  14. Oh, yes, we watch the online account like hawks. It's always the hot spot pulling the most data, which is why I'm so ready to get the other internet option. What company are you with now? Phone, not satellite. Thanks for your thoughts.
  15. We live in the country. I posted the cell tower question because I thought it could be an income opportunity for us as well as offer better signals for us and those around us. We aren't too far out in the country (towns are as close at 10 miles), but we are in the country enough that ATT won't give us DSL and uverse isn't available of course. A local privately owned company even says that there are too many trees between us and their closest signal. However, we have a tall tv antenna that extends fairly high above our roof and they said that they might be able to work with us using that since it's as higher or even higher as some of the trees. So... my question now is asking for help determining the best economical situation for our data plans for cell phones. Right now we have 40gb of data total (right around $300/month) and use a hot spot in the house for internet connection and it works relatively well. However, in the last year we have had data usage issues that we didn't have the first year of living here (we will have lived here 2 years in July). We have more consistently, than inconsistently, used up all our data each month in this last year and that is even after learning all the tips to save on data (turn off wi-fi assist, turn off wireless on our phones/computers when finished, turn off hot spot every night, turn off apps and cellular on phone, etc.) We are not a gaming family, constant video/streaming family (can't even get a good connection to upload/download), etc, etc. ATT can't give us answers as to why this has happened even after changing our behaviors to make sure we are turning everything off. (Fuming over that, but that's another story...) Since the local internet company (they offer a dsl type connection with unlimited service- 3 plans to choose ranging from $56-116) has said that we likely can get a connection with our tall antenna, what changes can we make to our phone plans to save the most money? What company has the best rates, plans, customer service, etc, etc. We won't need a high data plan anymore since we will have the unlimited connection at home, so a decent plan for when we aren't home is all we will need (talk/text/minimal data-- not sure what minimal is though?). Looking to save the most money for good service and plan. Any suggestions? I feel like this post is jumbled with words, but I hope you get the idea of what I'm asking.
  16. No, I just got it recently because of the smell. It's helping, actually, but I will try the cream.
  17. I do add vinegar to my wash already. Do you have any suggestions for a better, more uplifting bra? I just settle for the one that seems to fit and feel good.
  18. Thanks everyone. Where did it come from? Did I do something to cause it? I wash well every night, dry well, and even tuck my shirt under them when I don't have a bra on to keep it from being skin to skin. I don't want to ignore something else going on, but I have no idea what that would be. I'll try an antifungal cream and see if that works. I did buy some shower powder that I use after shower at night and before I get dressed in the morning. Is this a common thing to happen or is a particular person with other health issues are susceptible to this type of thing? Or does it just happen. I like to try and get to the root cause of things if I can, but I know that's not always the case. Thanks for the answers. I had no idea it could be a fungal thing. :-/
  19. This is embarrassing to talk about, but I want it to go away and I'm not finding answers on my own. Has anyone ever experienced a smell under their b*O&o*ks? It just came on a couple of weeks ago. No rash, no skin issues, no anything. Just a smell. Sigh. So embarrassing. What is going on and how do I make it go away? I've done my personal doctor internet search, but the things that turn up include rashes or other things, not just an odor. It's an unpleasant odor like stinky f*e%e*t. I've not had any health changes. Nothing has changed, just the smell. Sigh. Is this what I have to look forward to after turning 40? Is everything going to go downhill? :(
  20. He found it!!! Praise the Lord!! I feel like a child has come home! Ha, ha!! It means that much to me. Thanks for the metal detecting club idea and for all the thoughts and encouragement. â¤ï¸ðŸŽ‰ðŸ‘
