  1. I don't want to use bookmyne. It does not work for me since it's been updated and I got a new phone. What other apps like that are there? Thanks.
  2. I've had success with Firefox for a good long while, but after updating it recently it stalls out constantly and just doesn't operate like it used to. What are other browsers out there that are good? I can't use IE because a few of school classes do not operate well with that one. Thanks!
  3. We're looking at this one: https://www.amazon.com/Intex-Ultra-Filter-Saltwater-System/dp/B00PHWXH74/ref=sr_1_15/188-6811000-2625121?ie=UTF8&qid=1466645700&sr=8-15&keywords=intex+pool It seems to include everything. I read the questions/answers and reviews. Any advice, info, etc. would be appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Oh, my! Wow! What would you recommend since you're in the industry?
  5. We've stayed at different ones over the years and had mixed reviews with the same chain and I'm always frustrated when we arrive at one and it's the pits in one way or another even though it was great at another location. For example, we've had awesome rooms at Hampton Inns in some places, but awful in other locations and also had awful rooms at the Hilton (broken down beds and bad a/c). I know it depends on ownership/management, but I would love to find a chain that is fairly consistent and is the Chik-fil-a of hotels. :) In other words, you know what you are going to get no matter what city or state you are in (i.e.. they will always say "my pleasure" and have great customer service, play nice music, clean restaurant, etc.). :) Have you found a favorite hotel chain? Oh, I prefer "no pets allowed", but I know that is hard to come by these days. Our next location to find a hotel is Arlington, TX. Any suggestions there? Thanks!
  6. Is there such a thing that anyone has created? Online? Self-made and willing to share? I know there are in-person co-op classes offered in our area, but is there something out there that is helpful to use at home?
  7. Hi, Daniel! I think we talked the other day. Thanks for your response! I'm glad to hear that info because that's what we use. :)
  8. I'm 100% sure I want ds to take Old Western Culture-Greeks, but my last concern is the technical details regarding connection, streaming. What type of connection did you use to connect to the recitation class and how well did it work? Does it require really great fiber-optic, fast connection to work well? RRM personnel doesn't have anything set up right now to test connection/speed, etc. Thanks.
  9. Found it... http://www.cengage.com/cgi-wadsworth/course_products_wp.pl?fid=M20b&product_isbn_issn=9780495502869&token=
  10. There was a thread awhile back that linked assignments, quizzes, tests for the Spiev... history book. Anyone remember it? I'll try and find it.
  11. I purchased the membership for 14.99 and I guess I was thinking I could find lists to use, but I'm only seeing that I have to create my own. Granted, I've only spent a little bit of time on the website and haven't thoroughly had a chance to research the whole site. Guidance please. Thanks.
  12. Oh, good! I thought so, but figured I got it confused with looking at other things. Thanks!
  13. We've used dense books from the beginning (AO as our main lit curriculum) with oral and written narrations, as well as reading many pages in all his subjects. It won't be a huge shock to him. I've tried to prepare him. They will do a better job than me at this level, though. 😊. I really like what I've researched already.
  14. My mistake. Omnibus is 3 credits. I'm looking at different things. It's all clouding together. I watched the intro videos on both today.
  15. The RR course (3 credits) and 2-BW course together would be cheaper than the two outside class options we have (by about $200), plus more time spent on the road that you can't put a price on. :) I'm not concerned with the credit for BW, but for helping him write. I've heard good things about BW, but yes, it's not cheap.
  16. And, does it assign writing assignments? If starting in high school, which one should be chosen? I, II, III, IV... When I look at 9th and 10th curriculum, it shows III for 9th and IV for 10th, but since we've never done it before wouldn't it be best to start with 1? I'm just weird that way, I guess, I like to start at the beginning, but what do I know. :)
  17. I'm still working on getting plans settled. I really don't want to fall back on the outside co-op option I have because I want us to be home and it's expensive, too. I also have our internet limitations to consider, but there are class options out there and I'm working through figuring it all out. Question for the option that I'm considering right now... RR Old Western Culture Greeks and adding Bravewriter...I think ds would benefit from composition work/help and needs to work on all the different types of compositions, not just essay writing in the RR course. Would this be too much? It seems that with BW, the courses are short intervals and can be taken on and off, so it seems like it would work, but, this is my first rodeo at high school homeschool and with these courses, so I have no idea. :) Help, please... thanks.
  18. My kids don't take online classes, but I would be interested in knowing what Internet Safety and Security information their teachers share with them. Is it a write up that they read or a video they watch or something from the online class provider specificially? Easy Peasy Homeschool site links to a page, but I would like something more than that. By the way, we talk and have talked A LOT about internet use and safety and are always communicating daily, but I've never done a straight forward presentation so to speak about it that's also done for me by those that probably know more and have spent time putting together a presentation, too. :) Thanks.
  19. I double checked CNN student news and it still allows you to link to the main site and see all the entertainment news and be on the regular page. They can get great news through World, One News Now and all the others I know about. That one is gone.
  20. Remind me again about opendns? It sounds familiar and I remember it was important...
  21. We use Covenant Eyes and Accountable 2 You, but I also block concerning sites. I may not know all the sites that are a concern and would love to hear which ones you block or do not allow your children to access. DC 15 and 13 are the only ones who have computers. DC 6 and 3 aren't a concern. :) I want them to have freedom and learn how to use it wisely and safely (we've talked a lot about it and they know what dangers are out), but I also want to guard as best I can because what's seen can't be unseen and I want to do all I can to help them. So far, I've blocked: Google images and Bing images-- are there other sites like these? You may enter an innocent search, but the other images that may come up are not innocent, so I blocked them. FB and Twitter-- our kids won't have accounts on social media while young and at home. When they are on their own, that's their business. Less to have worry about IMHO. News sites except the ones I trust and don't have concerning links, stories, and questionable entertainment news. I allow the kids news version of those news sites like CNN kids. They can access World, One News Now, SRN. I want them to be able to know current events and stories of our time, but on safer news sites. I know there are others that I can't think of right now. Please help me add more that are concerning that I either do not know about or that I just can't think of right now. Thanks!
  22. I might have to settle for dvd instruction and that's fine, too. Just want to see what's out there.
