  1. As we wrap up our 11th year of homeschooling and position ourselves to counsel our older dd (rising senior) regarding post high school education, I am reminded of one of my all time favorite benefits to homeschooling - the nurture of family relationships. Facts: 1) My girls are 3 yrs and 8 mos apart and have always enjoyed friendship as well as sisterhood. They, literally, are best friends. 2) My older dd was born to fly. This kid LONGS to travel, experience life in new terrain, etc, etc. Her school of choice is a couple hours away from home. 3) One of the best schools in the country for her major of choice, ironically, turns out to be right here in our own backyard (state university in our city). Because of Fact #3, she has really begun to get excited about staying home for college appreciating the value of the education she would receive at the university, despite her eager desire to travel. She's chosen to appreciate study abroad opportunities, etc, to satisfy that urge. Most significant to me, today, is the moment she announced this morning that *another* benefit to staying home for college is that she would be able to experience her sister's high school years with her because, "how sad would it be for me to miss that!" Longtime desire to travel just got trumped by sisterly love. :D Thankful for this, one of the many benefits of homeschooling. Sharon
  2. I understand your plight. My circumstances were different but we carried two homes, unexpectedly, for 2 years and 3 months after all was said and done. The renovations we initiated in our 20yo "new" home (which we moved into just over two years ago) have yet to be totally completed. ;-} Through it all, God revealed His faithfulness in a multitude of ways. Praying that the glory of the Lord will be revealed in *your* circumstances in undeniable ways! Please keep us posted.
  3. Michele, It is encouraging to me to read how, in each of your testimonies so far, God has been faithful to guide and direct, counsel and watch over, instruct you and show you the way that you're to go. Truly, He does now what our needs present and future are and looks out for each one. I rejoice with you in the direction you've received and in your dh's new job! Tell your children to have fun "moving in" to their newly painted rooms (you're off to a GREAT start!!!). :grouphug: Sharon

  6. Heather, I can only say that as I read through your note, I developed tears - tears of joy when I think that God, in His infinite wisdom, *knew* what your needs would be *today* to include *keeping* that very roof over your heads. He is SO good, and SO faithful. I am equally confident in His ability to guard you and keep you NOW, to meet your every need. PLEASE keep us updated (I will move your name to another section of the list so that we can be reminded to pray over your dh and the rest of your family). BTW, it sounds like you have a rockin' house! :-D I love you, friend! Sharon
  7. No worries! :-) It may simply be that when I said to the Pastor we would like to send cards and donations that he was just trying to be helpfu and make it clear that they would be willing to receive and pass along the donations. It's all good. :-)
  8. do I have a thread for YOU! (link below to my most recent post from this morning; give us the specs - we'll add you to the list!) http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1721019#post1721019 blessings, Sharon
  9. Denise, I think your counsel is wise regarding the checks. I was simply reverberating what the pastor dictated to me but, even as I typed it on this thread, had the concern about clerical error. Thanks for offering an alternative option!
  10. Ladies, firstly let me say that I have missed you and my heart has remained with you in your endeavors to sell your homes even though I could not, physically, be on the boards this past year. While I am still only able to touch base periodically, this thread is one of the first I have returned to. I am eager to hear how things have gone for you (please see the last list posted above and let me know of any changes you need to make!) I would love nothing more than to revive this prayer list in an effort to witness, first hand, the power of God at work in the moving of your homes, still! :grouphug: and I greatly look forward to hearing from you! Sharon
  11. I just spoke personally with one of Kari's pastors who was VERY helpful and appreciative of our desires to assist Kari and her family. He readily indicated a willingness to use their physical address for receipt of cards and/or monetary donations (instructions for that below) that they would, in turn, be very happy to transfer to Kari for us. Also, he gave me the name of their elder responsible for coordinating meals (that I've included in a PM to Denise) when the family gets back home in case we'd like to pursue that as well. Here are the specs: 1) For cards and/or monetary donations* send to: Calvary Chapel Lexington 1156 Barr Rd Lexington, SC 29072 *checks should be made out to Calvary Chapel Lexington and "Kari Clayton", "Tim (Timmy) Clayton" or the like on the memo line to ensure the $ is allocated to the family. He said they would receive and make out one large check (or subsequent smallers ones depending upon how quickly money comes in). Unfortunately, they (like us) do not yet have any information on the funeral. PLEASE let me know if there is anything more that I can do to help! YOU guys are a blessing and I feel privileged to have this opportunity to work with you! :grouphug: Sharon
  12. I will know more tomorrow. I'm working on getting a more direct address but, yes, at the very least, I will be MORE than happy to receive. Stay tuned - more info to come!
  13. Kari, while we have yet to meet in person, know that I love you. My heart hurts for you. And, my prayers are with you. Though there are no words to make a difference in your world just now, I know The One Who can. Trusting Him to do that which only He can do - be your All in All. ((Hugs)) Sharon (who would love to know if there is ANYTHING, at all, that she can do to help you!)
  14. Having been absent from the boards for about a year now (had to place something else in higher priority than board time for that period), I was reminded today *why* I felt compelled, more than a decade ago now, to not just visit the WTM boards but become a part of them. The relationships forged over the years are, indeed, priceless. I, too, thank you ladies for reaching out to Kari in this most loving way *and* for contacting me to let me know of the need! I humbly place myself in your service to do anything that I can to facilitate matters on this end. For now, just know that you are greatly appreciated for your obedience to "the call". ((HUGS))
  15. Thanks for the responses! Keep 'em coming. I've got my research cut out for me. These all sound good! :-)
  16. Dd, rising senior, still needs US History to graduate. What do you recommend that we use. :-) Many TIA!
  17. That, too, is the one I'm leaning towards..... :001_smile: Do you have any idea when these courses typically start/stop monthwise?
  18. Hi, all. I've been off the boards for almost a year now and it feels really good to be back! ((Hugs)) My oldest daughter (senior next school year) desires to pursue an online AP US HISTORY course. There are several to many options to consider. Can you recommend one over the other?! Help. :-}
  19. Thank you! I've been off the boards for about a year (tried FB instead 'cause I couldn't do both!). ;-} Your birthday message to me left me feeling VERY special! ((Hugs))

  20. Heather, I am SO ready to party on your behalf!!! :grouphug: (And, I NEVER tire of your updates. I'd be upset with you if you didn't keep us abreast of developments for how else can we fully appreciate the hand of the Lord when He does reveal His will in all of this?! :001_smile:) You'd be remiss, my friend, to not tell all. :D Meanwhile, we continue to trust and believe for Kingdom purposes to be established every. step. of. the . way.
  21. I'm glad it's over but I'm sorry you had to endure that. I rejoice that it is DONE.
  22. Father, in the name of Jesus, we ask that you would ensure Your will be done in these proceedings. We ask that you would grant everyone involved a spirit of unity, that they would be like minded with Christ, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Amen. Looking forward to what He is going to do on your behalf, my friend!
