Thought to share this quote that I came across today. I love that book. “I’d had the idea, once, that if I could get the chance before I died I would read all the good books there were. Now I began to see that I wasn’t apt to make it. This disappointed me, for I really wanted to read them all.” – Wendell Berry, “Jayber Crow

For those who are on Good Reads, do you have any thoughts on their new layout? I don't think that it's user-friendly anymore, not that it ever was to begin with. It's also not an attractive layout. I'm trying to think of alternatives. Maybe it's just me, but I'm having difficulty making my reviews to actually show. I wrote two reviews this morning and I don't believe that they showed up at all. I can see them, but I don't think that anyone else can unless if they search, or, as with the above, when I link them. -

Robin, thank you for this thread, as always. I have been barely been online much lately, since I had carpal tunnel surgery a few weeks ago and am only now slowly getting back into the swing of things. I didn't read nearly as much during this time as I thought that I would. Instead, I listened to a wonderful podcast and caught up on so many YouTube videos. It was a nice and refreshing change to do things that I normally don't get to do. I feel so thankful that the healing has been going well and I'm relieved to have had the surgery. The pain had been going on for far too long - three years! Now, there's no more pain and discomfort. I may eventually need it on my left hand. We'll see. Robin, thank you, as always, for the thread. Yes, you described it perfectly. Masks do feel like a security blanket. We still have to wear ours. I know that I'll feel funny once we no longer have to. Our dog is taking pills at the moment also. Thankfully, my son helps out with that. And yes, it's extremely here also. More than usual, but it's always hotter here at this time of year. I read Bill Bryson's African Diary - 3 Stars

Agreeing with you. The older that I get, the less I'm attracted to diet trends. If weight loss is the goal, why do IF? Why not just focus on a caloric deficit? One can fast, but in the end, it's all about the calories. I tried IF for a little while, but it didn't work for me. Mind you, I fast a little bit already, since I'm short and my allotted calories are low. However, I'm not fasting strictly. I simply try to eat breakfast as late as possible. I have heard that as a woman gets older, the body doesn't do well with what it perceives to be stress. IF may be seen by the body as a form of stress. Men don't seem to react in quite the same way. Another factor that turned me off is hair loss. I joined an IF group on Facebook and remember hair loss was often talked about. Thanks, but no thanks. Here's my book review on a book about IF, if anyone's interested. Here's another book review where she mentions IF.

I'm so happy for you! You're inspiring me. Although I haven't tried DDPY, I have a plan to also lose and maintain the loss.
