  1. To me it's still homeschooling. A different form than the one you chose, for sure, but homeschooling nonetheless. You still have the kid home with you all day, you still have to butt heads to make sure the work gets done, you still have to worry about the field trips and "socialization" issues, your whole life and approach to education have changed, etc. I consider unschoolers and relaxed homeschoolers to homeschooling too, and IMO, what your friend is doing is not much different.

:iagree: Here in FL, we have the option of an umbrella school or registered as homeschoolers with the county. We chose the umbrella school. I too have "tried" the virtual schools under the public school options. Either way you go, we are choosing to school at home. It still entails lots of work. I'm not sure why it's an issue. I know this comes up all the time with the us vs. them. We're homeschoolers, let's just encourage one another regardless of the options that we choose.

  2. NOT POLITCAL (I make no comment on what was said, just the performance):

I thought this was going to be about Clint Eastwood's, um, performance. I get what he was trying to do, but I was only half paying attention at first and I thought he was senile at first. I don't think it came off very well what with his slow rate of speech and his age. And the talking to an empty chair. It was just kind of creepy to watch.

I thought so too! LOL! I just knew this was about the Eastwood speech.

  3. I am so sorry. True Christianity is not what some of you have described here. I am truly sorry that God and Jesus have been misrepresented to some of you by self-righteous, hypocritcal, sanctimonious, condemning, egotistical hypocrites. For what it's worth, they make me sick.

The tough issues and seeming contradictions in scripture need to be dealt with head-on, not avoided by hiding behind some pat answer given in "christianese." That makes me sick too.

    I really am sorry.[/quote

    :iagree:

As a Christian, it saddens me to hear that. Sadly, it is a reality that I have experienced as well.

  4. I took advantage of this offer yesterday. Both my children are in the same grade so I ended up getting the 5th grade that includes all the subjects. I basically got it for free. I haven't received the confirmation email yet but I'm looking forward to playing with it a bit this weekend.

  5. I'm sorry. :grouphug: You just keep going, at your own pace. We went through a 2 year period where my boys were constantly in and out of the hospital due to their seizures. It was crazy and it seemed like we weren't really getting to school as often as I would have liked. We did the best we could. We had to focus on their health. That is ok. I pray it gets better for your family. I know all too well how rough it can be.

  6. We just recently celebrated 14 years of marriage and I have to say I'm more proud of him now. We have had our ups and downs through the years but he is a wonderful father and husband and he makes me proud. He is hardworking, a wonderful provider and has a heart for others. He is always looking for a way to bless others. At the end of the day I am so grateful for him. That's not to say we have our moments. I think it's sad that she feels that way.
