  1. I just received my VP lesson plans for next year and I was wondering what was the best way to use them. Do you print them off at home, have them printed at an office supply place, or just use them off the computer? Just curious as this is my first year using them. Thank you!
  2. Thank you all for your responses. I really appreciate all the wisdom here. I realize now that I don't have to do ALL those books! I will pick and choose for the kids - some for fun, some to challenge! Thanks again!
  3. We are planning on using VP for history and literature next year, dc are DS8 and DD10. In ordering some of the reading material for them, it just seems very challenging. My DS struggles a little in his reading (but is improving :)) and DD loves to read but had been reading many things that I think are too young for her. I guess my question (concern) is, are my dc really going to have a hard time with some of these books? I want to challenge them, not make them hate to read. Does this make sense? Thank you for any words of wisdom or encouragement you can give.
  4. I am always looking for the "right fit". Just when I think I found it my children's educational needs change. I loved school growing up. I was the kids that couldn't wait to get the new supplies (even more than clothes) and was EXTREMELY disappointed if we did not receive our new textbooks on the first day of school. I'm addicted books!:001_wub:
  5. I have been trying to find a resource that would list things for my dc to memorize. I came across this and I was wondering if someone could tell me how they implement it and if there are any examples anywhere. Thank you!
  6. We are going to be doing Vocabulary from Classical Roots with my 5th grader. I would like to do something in the same style with my 3rd grader. Are there any suggestions? Is there another vocabulary program out there that you like better than Vocabulary from Classical Roots? Thank you, Karen
  7. Do you think Ellen McHenry Elements and RS4K would work well together for 3rd and 5th grade? Neither of them have had any type of chemistry. According to RS4K they should start on the Pre-Level 1 Chemistry. Is that too easy for my 5th grader? Thanks, Karen
  8. I'm looking for a good supplement for RS4K Chemistry for 3rd and 5th grade. Is Ellen McHenry's Elements too advanced for 3rd grade? Thanks, Karen
  9. Like many of you, I am getting ready for next year. My DC will be in 3rd and 5th grades. I really need suggestions for science. I want to do it together. We have done Apologia Astronomy in the past (loved it but eventually got burned out on space!) and we are currently doing Considering God's Creation (like it but retention seems to be low). Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thank you, Karen
  10. We have two children, 2nd and 4th grade. My DS (2nd) is not very strong in grammar and we have been doing very light grammar this year. My DD(4th) is stronger but has never done diagramming and needs a good solid review. Where would you start them in GWG? Should I repeat 2nd grade with DS and start DD in 3rd where the diagramming starts OR is there enough review to start DS in 3rd (jumpstart next year) and put DD in 4th or 5th? I hope that makes sense! :001_unsure: Thank you, Karen
