  1. All of what because she's having trouble with word problems? My concern? I'm not sure if you are saying I'm overreacting (totally possible) or other posters are? I have had extra concerns lately because I don't do all lessons with her. I am back to school full time and this semester we just have family watching. It is often a different person each day of the week. Next semester will be better. We school year round and work on the weekends too, but I was getting concerned that perhaps there wasn't enough supervision/instruction. I found a Singapore mental math and we are going through that. I think I will grab the level one word problem. That is a great suggestion. I think I got quite hyper after realizing we hadn't been using all of the materials and she would be screwed! Who doesn't worry they've got it all wrong sometimes.
  2. We already have everything for 3a and 3b. I just can't afford to go back and buy all the past books. We did a lot of manipulation a today. Doubles and making tens are solid. Up to 5000 she can add and subtract. We will look at place value tomorrow.
  3. I get all that. Which is why I asked the question. I don't need to be sold on the idea, I need help on how to.
  4. But should I go back? Or? How do I know what we missed?
  5. Ack. The mental math is not at the same level and she is getting stuck on simple word problems. Anyone have suggestions on how to boost these skills that I have neglected so we can move on to 3a with confidence? (I will buy the hig and text from now in).
  6. We have been using Singapore with dd (2nd grader) since 1st grade. We started with mus and she did not like the videos and it just seemed too slow for her. We also tried right start but were overwhelmed with the manipulatives. We found Singapore and loved it. She is a self learner and I never had to do much instruction. We never bought the hig, and I only bought the text for 1a. I found it tedious and didn't buy anymore. We are now nearing the half way point of 2b and she is getting stuck and frustrated. The mental math is n
  7. Also curious. We are "Galloping the Globe" now and plan to follow with "Cantering the Country." Did you use gtg?
  8. We are doing "galloping the globe" and living it so far! I'm doing a brief introduction and wanted to read a bit about the explorers but all the books I have are soooo dry. It is my 6yo k'er ds and my 8yo 2nd grade dd. ds is still not an independent reader but has a 2nd grade comprehension and dd has at least a 4th grade comprehension. I like books to read as a family at bed time that are "stories" and have our meaty fact based books for daytime lessons. So... Fun explorer books? Beyond bios?
  9. I can use for my 6 and 8 yo kids with a few adjustments that does not eliminate evolution or creation? Ps we like workbooks and reading.
  10. I'd. Really like to cover American history from "discovery" to present and include world history a bit as it coincides on the timeline.
  11. We have geography covered. We do read but those 2 programs have been too dry for us. We like to read and enjoy workbooks a lot!
  12. No dd (8) is in book 6 and ds (5) is in book 1
  13. So phonics mastery then spelling mastery then vocabulary? Why not lightly at once?
  14. Right now we are working throug etc. my ker is on book 1 and my 2nd grader is on book one. We are workbook people. Adding in "just write" What other aspects of la do I need to add in? Spelling, grammar,?
