  1. We're in southeast MS in Pearl River County. Any other Mississippians out there? :)
  2. Or are the workbooks completely necessary? I've been wanting to start this with my sons in hopes that their handwriting will improve. The entire set would be a bit pricey for us at the moment, but I found the TM for a good deal and I'm hoping we can get by with it, but haven't actually seen it yet. So, I thought I would ask, what do you think? TIA :)
  3. Oh, okay. Thanks. I have no clue what I'm using, I can only tell when the responder quotes the respondee (is that a word? lol).
  4. Y'all are the sweetest bunch of ladies in the whole wide world. You have all made me feel so much better. Thank you each and every one of you. :grouphug:
  5. So, it will show up in your sent folder like you really sent it? I want to be sure about that, because that's what's really freaking me out. :) I thought there were programs that could make it look like it came from me, but I wasn't expecting to find it in my sent folder, like it really came *from* my account. I hope that's all it is. It could be something like that, we're just running the very basic McAfee protection. I'll also try running some of the other scans recommended, just to be on the safe side. Thanks, ladies!!! I'm starting to feel a little better now. :)
  6. I checked my email and there was a message from me (that I did not send to myself) titled "Do you want to feel a low-price revolution?" The message inside is: Do you want to feel a low-price revolution? Hi friend, How are you recently?I'd like to introduce you a good company who mainly sell electronic products such as mp3/4,PSP/PS3,tvs, mobiles, motors and digital camera etc.and can provide you a low-price revolution. All the goods are brand new and original and with the high quality and the lower price. If you have interests in the low-price revolution please come with me to go their official website www.digiseries.com to have a look.Hope a good time there! Best wishes! I looked in my sent folder and it doen't show where this was sent from my account, but it was forwarded to three email addressses that are not in my contact list, but are people I know, FROM MY ACCOUNT. I did not forward this and I'm freaking out. I have a hotmail account and don't know what to do.
  7. For my 5th grader, I'm undecided on whether to do it as described in TWTM or to use Holt Science and Technology: Life Science. I have the main spines recommended in TWTM and I have the Holt science text. But, I can't decide. The Holt text is very thorough, but most chapters have two to three sections and there's 28 chapters. I don't want to overwhelm my son. I haven't quite figured out how to "do it", so to speak either. I thought of using it the WTM way, but again that's much more reading for my son than the four pages in How Nature Works, recommended by SWB. Doing Science the WTM way, would be less reading for my son, but less thorough, as well. I've thought about maybe just reading the Holt text with my son and just asking the questions at the end for each section and then assigning things to him as described in TWTM. Sort of a best of both worlds thing. But, I can't decide. Please help me make up my mind what to do. :) I would appreciate any opinions or thoughts. TIA :)
  8. I meant to thank those of you who offered kind words an encouragement. Guess I'm so bummed, I forgot. Thank you! :)
  9. Just to answer the question of why it didn't work out for those wondering, it's all my library's fault. :glare: It does not have ANY of the books listed to use or anything similar, now if it listed bubble gum classics like sweet valley high or the scary books I can't think of the name right now, we would have been fine, but not the case. Thanks to the economy we are in no position to buy the books needed and I tried finding free ebooks to use, but it's too much of a hassle trying to figure out what would fit where and my 5th grader isn't real keen on reading off the computer because it makes his eyes hurt. It's a wonderful program, but due to financial constraints, I'll never be able to fully put it to good use. Oh, well.
  10. After scrimping and saving (since my now 5th grader was a 1st grader) and buying one here and one there over the years, finally having all four classic years on my shelf and then spending the last month and a half planning, I've decided it's not for us. Isn't that awful? I'm ashamed of myself, really. Any other dropouts want to join in my pity party? :001_huh:
  11. Thank you! :) That helps a lot. Are you using EFTRU instead of VFCR for logic stage? I have volume one and tried using it when my now 5th grader was 1st or 2nd grade, but it kinda flopped. I've thought about using it now to help with his spelling but he's doing Latina Christiana and enjoying it and I'm not suring if adding to it would be too much for him. So, now I'm wondering if I could use it instead of VFCR later. Just thinking out loud. :) Thanks so much for your help.
  12. Thank you for posting this. This describes my son so well, I had no idea, it never even crossed my mind before. There is dyslexia (not formally diagnosed) on my hubby's side of the family, though. Are there any links to how to help these children? I may have overlooked them. Thanks!
  13. What are the major differences between the versions? Now that there is a 3rd version I feel like a cavewoman still using the 1st version. Thanks. :)
  14. My understanding is that this series is very similar to Prentice Hall Science explorer. So, if you do or have used it, you might could help me. Can anyone help me? Please. Thanks!
  15. If it helps any, I have the C. 2001 edition, I bought it used but it's in great shape. I have noticed there are lots of other books to go with this like lab books, guided reading, tests, etc... Just wondering if any of them are necessary. Hope that seems a bit more clear. Thanks. :)
