  1. I've been really focused on getting my 5th grader's schedule together for year one and am just now paying attention to and looking through the rhetoric level. I've always planned to do what SWB suggests in TWTM for high school history, but loved the idea of being able to use TOG twice and had sort of convinced myself that we would use TOG again. Having flipped through it, though, now I'm not so sure. I have noticed that a lot of books used in the dialectic level are repeated for rhetoric. And I haven't noticed any great books. So, maybe I've missed something. I really have just flipped through it. I would love to hear your opinions on TOG Rhetoric vs TWTM Rhetoric. What do you think? TIA
  2. I was the lucky recipient of a complete set of 1989 Encyclopedia Britannica from our local freecycle group. I'm showing my ignorance here, please forgive me. :) I'm looking for ideas. I'm thinking mostly they would be used for research, but wondering about other uses. My oldest is a 5th grader and I remember reading in TWTM that this is an ideal time to get a set of encyclopedias(although, there wasn't really any recommendation for what to do with them). So, I was so excited to get this set, but now I have it and I'm not completely sure what to do with it, LOL. Any suggestions would be helpful. TIA
  3. Thank you, thank you! You're a life-saver! :)
  4. I'm using TOG classic year one, copyright date 2003. SOTW is not listed. Does anyone have a schedule of what chapters of SOTW go with sections of TOG? I would really appreciate you sharing if so. Thank you.
  5. Thanks so much for posting this, I didn't know it existed. It looks really useful. :)
  6. Thanks, ladies! This helps a lot. We got behind a bit and are just now starting a full 5th grade schedule, working everything in little by little since around the beginning of this month. We weren't ready in September 08. I'm trying to figure out how to fit everything in and my ds thinks I have some cruel plan to work him to death. So, I'll have him look over these schedules to make him feel better. :)
  7. Thanks, ladies. I forgot to add in my original post, we'll be using the dialectic level.
  8. I meant that I had to label the parts of speech on the diagram. Thanks!
  9. We're just dipping into classic year one, dialectic level, and I am trying to decide on how to schedule each week. Seeing what others are doing or have done would be very helpful to me. Thanks!
  10. I just want to see where we are in comparison to others. It helps me to not push too much, etc... Thanks so much! :)
  11. We just started using this and I have a question. When I was in high school (the only time I've ever diagrammed sentences, I enjoyed it, but it was about 15 years ago) we had to label the parts of speech as we diagrammed the sentences. I don't see that we're supposed to do that in this book. Was I taught the wrong way, or is it a difference in programs? Anyone know? Thanks!
  12. OMG, I love this site. Thank you so much for posting this. :grouphug:
  13. This could work for year 3 AO Pre-Year 5 Schedule and this for year 4 AO Pre-Year 7 Schedule There are also lists on the TOG site under Literature for each year that are online, not all but most. HTH :)
  14. I found these and wanted to post them in case anyone else can use them. I can only find these schedules for year one and year two. If anyone has anything similar for years 3 and 4, please let us know. :) This lines up Ambleside, SOTW, CHOW, etc... Year 1 Schedule - Missey Gray Missey Gray's Schedule - 2
  15. Oh, well. Thanks for letting me know. :)
  16. Actually, Dragons wrote that. I'm in the same boat as you and am eagerly awaiting her list. Meanwhile, check out the other links. They're all very helpful. :)
  17. Thank you so much, Carmen. That helps a lot. :)
  18. Actually, we'll be starting our 2nd round on Ancients next week. But I'm keeping this middle ages list for next year, looks great. Thanks! :)
  19. I'm confused, all I see are lists of books that are not in the public domain (except for Young Folks Josephus) that correlate with SOTW. I don't see any other free ebooks. Am I missing something? Thanks! :)
