Handwriting without Tears has gotten both my crazy wiggly boys writing (including the one who needed OT for fine motor delays). Its best to start with the Pre-K manual and move into the K one. You will also need the chalkboard & chalk, and the block letters are incredibly helpful, but you could make them out of cardboard. Because it is so hands-on, it works well for wigglers.
I was going to suggest this as well. Ds really enjoyed using the foamy pieces to make letters (I cut out my own instead of buying the wooden ones. There's a pattern in the Pre-K TM). HWT also sells playdough mats or you can find them to download for free on the internet.
I also second the math games. You may also want to check out the family math books. We've gotten some fun games and some large motor activities suggestions.

:bigear: We have this and are thinking about using it next year.

I got Johnny Depp in a kilt, poutine and the baking soda/funnel pic all on the third page. :D

I realize that I'm missing the moral point, but putting that aside for a moment... I don't want anyone running my country that isn't smart enough to be sexually inappropriate and keep the world from knowing about it.

I'm wondering if putting a gutter shelf under the chalkboard would reduce the amount of dust on the floor. Has anyone tried this before? I googled but couldn't find any pictures of the 2 together, but here's a sample of the shelves if you're not familiar. http://www.ohdeedoh.com/ohdeedoh/look/look-rain-gutter-bookshelves-089974

I think parental instincts are very important in getting help for these children that "don't fit the mold", but objective observation is also important. It's possibly, probably likely, that there are things going on that you as her parent just don't see. Your pediatrician is one place to start, but I think you already know that your dd has some delays and needs some help. You might as well move on to someone that can actually do an evaluation and give you suggestions and therapy recommendations if necessary.
AFA someone mandating public school, ps don't really have programs to help kiddos with social delays or sensory issues unless those delays are keeping the teacher from doing what she needs to do (at least in my area). I realize that school boards and other folks in authority are capable of completely irrational demands (it was a concern of mine and my dh when we started this process), but it probably won't affect you or your dd.
I hope you are able to find the answers you need and get your dd help if that's what she needs. :grouphug:

Reiterating what others have suggested: B/FIAR, HWT & Family Math for Young Children. I also like hands on activities on this blog, http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/TotTrays.html and http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/PreschoolPacks.html.

I don't have alot of experience or wisdom to share, but I'd think you would want a diagnosis or to see a psychologist or developmental pediatrician or someone to let you know what kind of help she needs. :grouphug:

I have Vol. 1, but I'm thinking that we'll wait a year for 1st. Ds is a fairly strong decoder, but he still needs to build up his comprehension skills. (Can one actually build those skills? Duh' no', but he needs to work on it all the same.)

I've recently purchased a tool for dh's father's day present, 2 car seats, books that were as cheap as the used bookstore prices, MP3s, games, dried peas and laundry detergent. Like others have mentioned, Amazon is one of the first places we check when making a purchase.

I have to laugh when someone says that ordering unsweet tea is a "hanging offense", unheard of, gets weird looks, etc. Umm, really, have ya lived in the South lately?
I think it was just a joke. I realize that some people think we're kinda backward, but even in GA, we don't actually hang folks. ;)

The Reader's Theatre books are great! There are many that go perfectly with the topics in sotw.
Do you mind sharing some of the book titles? I did a search using the words "reader" and "theatre" and I'm not finding anything. Thanks!! :001_smile:

How hard and fast is the registration deadline of May 1st? I totally forgot about this and started contacting the director on Saturday, Apr 30th. I still haven't heard from her after several phone messages and an email. Do we still have a chance at doing CC next year?

:bigear: Just want to hear what others do!

Ds could read well and repeat numbers back at 4yo. He surprised me by learning our phone number one day when I had to give it while I was paying at Babies R Us one day. I thought there was a correlation... short term memory as pp mentioned.
Favorite kindy curricula for an active boy?

Glad you're finding lots of resources!! We didn't use the playdough mats much b/c ds doesn't like to roll snakes with playdough. :glare: I've used them in my shabbat school class and other kiddos seemed to like them.
I personally would print on regular paper and laminate, but that's what I do with everything especially since I got a small one for the house last year.
