I'm just added bunches of boards to follow. You ladies have such good ideas!! Here's me... http://pinterest.com/Mert1234/
FYI, for those who didn't want to share because of personal info on your Pinterest profile... You can change it. I wasn't going to add folks from my message boards at first so I used mine and my family members real names. It was very easy to go back and change it all.
Also, someone mentioned that she didn't want to give out her info for us to follow her, but that she was following others. Anyone that you're following can see your whole profile.
I'm having so much fun with this. At some point, I'm going to have to get off the computer and actually USE some of these great ideas!! :D

I haven't typed this out before now, but it'll be good to actually see what we have and what we might need.
LA: Just finishing OPG, AAS 1 & probably 2, FIAR, practice/practice/practice reading, loosely using HWT.
Math: Some combo of Singapore 1A/1B, Right Start A/B/games, MEP and Miquon. We're going to spread everything out on the table and make a decision at some point.
Am History: We're not going to do a program... just read books about basic topics in some sort of chronological order based on Guest Hollow or some other book list and add in some crafty sort of things using the David C King books.
Extra curricular activities: gymnastics, chorus (maybe?) and social skills play group.

Thanks for the responses, Aurelia and Chloe! :grouphug: I think I have a few things to look into now. That's a great site, Chloe.

Anyone else have any ideas? Just wanted to bump for the afternoon/evening crowd. :001_smile:

I'm going to do a year of Am hist with ds for kindy before we get started on SoTW the following year for 1st grade. For the most part we'll just be reading picture books: Adler, Fritz, Maestro, D'Aulaire, etc. with some crafts thrown in for fun (and pictures ;)).
I'm looking for a chronological list to guide me through. I found one on Guest Hollow with great picture book suggestions, but I was wondering if there are others. I haven't checked Paula's archives as of yet... I'm sure she'll have something. Anyway, just wanted to ask you ladies. You always have the cool stuff!! :D

Thanks for all the info! No problem about the magic house... It does look fun!
-
I'm not sure how old your kids are, but the Magic House is supposed to be amazing! It's really more of a hands-on learning center for kids. It's really cool!
I'm interested in this, but I googled and can't find any info. Do you have a link or more info?

I'd love to hear about all this tweaking. Anyone care to share what changes you're making and why? :D :bigear:

I found that some of the abbreviations weren't in the sticky so I just asked. Everyone is happy to help out the new mommas!
BTW, welcome!!

Dana Dirkson has a couple cds, Songs for Saplings, just voice and acoustic guitar. http://www.amazon.com/Songs-Saplings-Dana-Dirksen/dp/B000NQ2A9U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1308852901&sr=1-1
But the ones that are hugely popular at our house are the Seeds cds. These are pop/rock/ccm sounding. http://www.seedsmusicstore.com/ -

Our congregation is so small, we don't have VBS. So we found a similar minded congregation for ds this summer. I grew up going to and then teaching VBS. I'd be so bummed if ds couldn't experience that. So, YES!

Define icky... you don't like it, it needs serious work, it's super dirty? That affects how I would answer.

FIAR for the book archives mostly. Since we're doing this for a couple of years, I thought I ought to hang out there and read up from time to time.
I've tried several others (I'm not recalling any names at the moment), but nothing I've come across compares to this board! :D

Kangaroo Korner makes a lovely adjustable fleece pouch that is very user friendly. I'm sure there are other options on the market now as well if you want to check at TBW.
I had several different slings and such, but my KK pouch was my fav and "go to". I was still carrying ds in it when he was 3 (just on my hip for a quick run into the grocery or the like), but it's still in great shape. Looks almost new still. I highly recommend!! :001_smile:

Have you checked out Guesthollow American History?
This was the first thing that came to mind. I'm using quite a few books she's recommended. :001_smile: Beautiful Feet also has wonderful book suggestions and a reasonably priced teacher's guide. http://www.bfbooks.com/Literature-Packs/Early-American-History-Packs

This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but this blog has some great ideas for things to do with little ones. http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/TotBooksTotPacksALL.html

It hits me when I hear "my" music on the "oldies" channel.
It was bad enough when the music I listened to in high school became regular fare on the classic rock station, but I'm still in shock that Bon Jovi, long hair, hard rockin', Bon Jovi is now on the Oldies station.

I read a thread the other day where someone was sharing their book list. Here it is... http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=280199&highlight=rso ~HTH

Now that you've got me looking at the creuset pots, I want a flower-shaped one. Soooooo cute!!

I have my MIL's Le Creuset dutch oven that she received as a wedding gift 45 years ago, and I'm still making chili, curries and soups/stews in it. It's a fav pot of mine!!
