  1. Many are. The three states schools my son applied to in VA are all extending to May 15th
  2. My son's FAFSA had shown processed towards the end of March and he had a SAI number. Now it is showing submitted two days ago with changes and his SAI went up $2,500. 🫤 We didn't submit any changes. 🤷‍♀️ Wondering if that will affect the one school he has a financial aid package from already. That school also uses the CSS profile, so I'm hoping not since he received a significant grant offer.
  3. My youngest will be in second grade as well. I have two older boys and have loved the convenience of the MP Cores for my little the past few years. So continuing with what's working! Memoria Press 2nd Grade Full Core Enrichment Co-op one day a week Soccer, Trail Life, and Awana. 🙂
  4. Congrats!! I'm pretty new to this forum and was just reading through this thread today. 🙂 My son was also accepted to UVA, VA Tech, and JMU EA for computer science. He's my first homeschool graduate so we are thrilled! He will most likely attend Tech. So far that's his favorite campus and it's just an hour from home. His AP scores also transfer with higher credits to Tech than UVA, meaning he could most likely finish in 3 years. Waiting on financial aid like everyone else...
  5. My son is currently enrolled in her biology class, not in the honors track so I can't speak on those assignments. Some of the positives are Dr. Moon seems to be an excellent teacher, is very encouraging with her students and leads an enjoyable class. The work load each week usually contains multiple worksheets to complete along with videos to watch. The class does not follow a textbook but does give selected readings if your student prefers to have a physical book. We have completed labs on our own. So far there haven't been that many and they are pretty basic. At least for the regular track full lab reports are not required. Some of the labs require waiting several hours in between steps, so those would not be ideal for a group setting. My son completed Novare's Introductory physics last year with Memoria Academy. I now realize I prefer that 2 day a week lecture format, and it was definitely more academically challenging. He really had to study to earn an A. For my student who prefers the math based sciences, the True North biology class has been fine.
  6. Shormann is not an "official" AP course, though it covers the AP material. As someone else mentioned you can register as an AP teacher through College Board and officially list the class on your transcript. It's a pretty straight forward process and then gives your student access to all of the review material on AP classroom, so I think it's a great added resource. You will need to choose an AP approved textbook to have on hand. I looked through the AP list and choose one that I could purchase a cheap used copy of. Shormann quizzes and tests are multiple choice, so it's graded immediately. If you have questions you can send Dr. Shormann an email. You purchase access for at least 12 months if I remember correctly, and you can purchase more time at a discounted rate if needed. It was a great fit for my older son who is very much an independent learner and STEM student. The difficulty level was too much for my second son. Shormann has sample videos and you can see if seems like a good fit.
  7. I'm not familiar with the ChemAdvantage format, but my older son completed Shormann Calculus 1 and earned a 5 on the AP test. Shormann now has Calculus 2 which is equivalent to BC. Shormann is asynchronous and quizzes and tests are graded online.
