  1. My little man will be 4 in July. I have no idea what to use yet but I was thinking about using the first book from HWOT and using bits a pieces from memoria press junior K. Lastly preschool math at home.
  2. We’ve used both for kindergarten enrichment. They are both really rich in content and just enough. I do tend to favor memoria press because it’s more open and go. Gentle and classical had a lot of moving parts.
  3. My boy did 100EZ lessons and then we did AAR 1 and now in 2. In AAR 1 we started in the middle of the book. Once we finish level 2 we will use explode the code. I’m debating if we should add spelling next year. He will be 5.5 so I’m not in a rush. He’s a strong reader and I feel like he’ll be strong in spelling too.
  4. My son is technically kindergarten for the next school year but we did kindergarten this entire year. Literature: lighting literature First Language Lessons handwriting without tears explode the code (finishing up AAR 2) Singapore Primary 2022 1st grade mystery science sprinkle in some units of core knowledge because we all love it. Originally I wanted to do around the world but I feel next school year will be better because I’ll have a 6.5 year old and a new 5 year old.
  5. Thanks so much! This is definitely helpful!
  6. Has anyone ever used the art resources from Core Knowledge? If so did you like it and was it good quality? I was trying to find a video to see what it looks like but no luck. If you didn’t use that what did you use? We did the art cards from memoria press kindergarten and it was fine but I do wish we just got the bigger set. I know for the earlier years it’s more for exposure. Thanks!
  7. That sounds perfect! I totally understand why you’d go that way. I’m trying not to stress myself out but I do think I have science loving kids. It’s the one thing my boys have in common haha! Othe Mr than that they are completely opposite.
  8. Thank you so much! I have looked at Nancy Larson science and it is eye catching. You are right though if core knowledge is working why mess with it? It’s probably a me thing wanting to try all the things. I probably needed to hear that. I’m not 100% sold on MP but their guides are very helpful. Maybe with time and experience I might not need that handholding? I know it seems like way off but I have a 16 year old and that just flew right on by! Time just goes so fast with kids right?
  9. Memoria press is a lot more on the lighter side with science and core knowledge is a lot more but at the same time my kids just love science. This year I’ve been doing a little bit of both but I’d like to be more consistent. This next year is when I have to start a portfolio with my state so that’s a huge reason I’d like to go in one direction.
  10. I’m starting to think of what we will use next year. I’m pretty sure with the skills subjects. I’m just so torn if I want to continue memoria press enrichment and figure out our own science or if I want to go all in with core knowledge for LA and science. I love both memoria and core knowledge for completely different reasons. I wish I could just do it all. I love the books and the richness of memoria but I also think both my kids respond well with core knowledge. What to do?
  11. I only have experience with junior k and kindergarten so far but I definitely cannot use all of it. I do think at least for now that their literature is great and the guides are needed. In the future I think we will use their literature guides and maybe art. I think there’s much more out there for content etc. I, too don’t think all school should be fun but I also don’t think it should be a bummer either. I do love the hand holding it provides especially for a newbie like myself. I’ve really loved the enrichment guides.
  12. Thanks so much! This is helpful. I see that there is a lot of writing but I have no issue helping him out especially since he’s 5 but I do feel he can get the questions right etc. I think we will start with story time treasures to see how that goes but I feel like it’s what he needs at this point. He’s so happy to be reading now and memoria press just has a fantastic book list.
  13. I hope you don’t mind me asking how did you like story time treasures from MP? I’m highly considering it for next school year.
  14. It’s now on sale for the next school year but according to them in April it will be about 20 dollars off. My kids have loved every mini lesson I’ve shown them.
  15. Today is my boys 5th birthday so lots of time spent planning his bday party this weekend. I decided to start the year dabbling in some CKLA and I often wonder why I ever stop using it because it really does keep my boys engaged, even my 3.5 year old likes to participate. Memoria press enrichment has also been going well over here. I’m thinking about getting the 1st grade enrichment guide for next year. We don’t use very all the parts every week but it is nice to have. AAR 2 is going pretty fast but it’s getting the job done. HWOT is smooth sailing so we will continue. I cant wait to get mystery science this month. My boys love the mini lessons so why not? Singapore Earlybird math has been wonderful for us. I’m trying to figure out which version of primary to go with once we finish our last book. Any recommendations?
