Viruses are known to be a trigger for diabetes, for sure.

Yes.  When he was dx'd years ago, dr said possibly from one of his bouts with strep, since there is no family history.
Id love a vax for strep, too.

My concern about "Long Covid" is how strongly it resembles ME/CFS (myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome) in it's package of symptoms.

People with ME/CFS rarely get better. It seems to be a lifelong illness and one that's very debilitating.

If even a small portion of Covid patients develop Long Covid and it is comparable with ME/CFS, society and afflicted individuals are in for a tough road.

    Deeply concerning.

Being dx'd with CF at 17, and Fibro in my mid-late 20's....  yeah, it's not been a fun ride.     It could be devastating to the economy, especially, if lots of people get it.
another issue, I've been 'hearing' where COVID is causing some peoples' pancreas to attack itself.  Having a kid with type one diabetes, that is especially concerning, as well,  because God only knows what kind of impact that will have on the economy, healthcare, etc.

Bought new Bird unit from G&B for hs science next year as they had a promotion to get the bird journal for free.

Got paid and got some cash back from CC's. Vaca fund at 60.07%

Dh has a part ordered for something, compressor mayber? We'll get the bill when it comes in. That is another $50 or so. Ya!

I like watching your vacay fund go up.   I think when you hit 100%, I'll be hollering for you. 😆

  4. Huh.  Well don't be borrowing sugar from that guy!
maybe start looking into fences or fast-growing shrubs?

and, yes, there should be a pin, but if there's not, I mean they kinda have to go off placemarkers that are there now, so...  🤷🏻‍♀️   Maybe they can ask his permission or give him a heads-up?

  5. I think a lot of this hand-wringing and anger over people not getting the vax may be (hopefully) for naught a couple months from now.
I am acting as the guinea pig in my family.   I was ready to push people out of the vaccine line when it finally opened to everyone 16+ so I could get to the front of the line.  (Ok not really, but you get my drift).  I was sooooooo ready to roll up my sleeve.  I think a lot of people who are saying “nope, I’ll wait” just want to see how it affects the people they know irl who get it.... and then they’ll start (grudgingly probably) rolling up their sleeve.    I fully expect those around me to get vaxed as soon as they see I’m ok from it, which I think is totally understandable, btw.

And I agree about people digging in their heels.  If some of y’all present your arguments to people irl the same way you do here, no wonder people are saying “no way!”   Talk about making people run in the other direction!   🏃🏼‍♂️🏃🏼‍♂️🏃🏼‍♂️

  6. Like @Garga, I'm using the LoseIt app.   I've actually considered paying for premium since I like it so much.    I'm finding it easy to input totals.  But if you do have to 'guess', always go a little higher than your guess.

Well, I definitely agree with removing the stigma of special ed programs. I'm not sure how to do that, either. Showing some great SpEd programs and what actually happens there would be a good start. It would be wise to survey people to see what their thoughts are about SpEd - I have an idea, but I might not be correct.

I think names matter. If it helps even 1%, that would be worth it.

I agree.  I'll be happy to sign it.

  8. Have y’all tried gardein crumbles?   I used them in zucchini boats.  No one in my family of four could tell they weren’t eating meat (well, except me, but i would never have been able to tell the difference if I hadn’t cooked it).   They are the easiest thing to use.     And priced well, too!

Sounds way better than trying to convince me to go vegan. I feel better when I eat meat, and I am from a farming community where people treated their animals well, so I try to buy meat from sources I know are careful with their livestock.

This is what I want to find around here.  I think there's a really good pork farm, but I'm not crazy about pork enough to go buy it.  Maybe though, I should give it a shot.  There is a place with good beef, but I don't want to buy it again until I ask how they kill their livestock.   I haven't figured out a polite way to ask a farmer that question yet.

  10. Hoping for good things for you all!   Job offers, dh's sight, fencing issues, dance payments, all of it!

dh is getting supper tonite.  I have been through it mentally, for the past week, but there's an end in sight.  Unfortunately there's no way I can cook tonight since I took something, but idc.  Today has turned out to be a wonderful day and we need to celebrate a little.

both dogs get booties and nails done Thursday.

I may drive down to see my mom in the next couple days, but I may wait til next week.   I painted her a picture of dogs at the beach and I need to give it to her.   She's now requested a large flamingo for over her bed.  🤦🏻‍♀️😆

  11. Yes, dh works with a guy who believes the Q garbage.   Dh and everyone else think the guy is a total nut job, thankfully.   His lunacy has not spread beyond him.    He's also not an intelligent person, definitely not the swiftest deer in the forest.   It's not very surprising, I guess.   it wouldn't surprise me if my mil believes the Q stuff, either.

Since we are in the south, it is concrete. So we are fine on that. What do you all think of leaving the kitchen with the tile and then putting wood everywhere else? Or something that looks like wood. The kitchen tile was not damaged but everything else was.

Are y'all selling this house?  Or is this your home?  (I ask because if it's your home, tear out the kitchen tile if you don't like it for whatever reason--now is the perfect time to do that)   Has there been any water damage before?  If so, I'd probably tile everything with regular tile or a wood-look tile.   (Having a home water-damaged would probably scar me for life, that's why I've suggested regular tile or the wood-look tiles.)

I'm not an expert by any stretch, but I believe one reason it would (maybe) bring discredit to the cult is that it's always been speculated that Q is some high ranking public official or top secret operative. Or someone who is (supposedly) dead. In any event -- the speculation has been that it's someone other than the longtime administrator of the message board that was home to the cult. In any event, AFAIK he's been speculated to be Q for a long time now. So it's not new by any stretch.

But I agree that it likely won't discredit anything. The people I know who seem to believe and spread the conspiracies put out by the Q-Nuts don't seem to realize the origins of those conspiracies.

Thank you!  Yep, as soon as I read the bolded, I remembered that there was speculation about this person being 'in the know'.   It looks like he's not even on the same continent.  🤦🏻‍♀️

  14. We bought ds a used washer and dryer when he moved out and he texted last night saying the dryer is broken.   This is the second used set we've tried, so we may be taking it back, too.   If that happens, we'll just get a new one.  I am not dealing with this crap again.  🤯🤬🤯

Trying to get ds in to a doctor, sitting around this morning making calls...

Will be taking ds to lunch today since I have to take him something anyway, so that's a little money spent.

Going to try my best to eat what's in the house this week instead of going to the grocery store.  I'm ready to get that stupid insurance payment paid!
