  1. What can I say - I'm Chatty Kathy, ya know. :) I'm amazed, I've seen some folks at the next level already! Overachievers... :)
  2. Thanks for your reply. Will it be easy to use without a workbook, say for my 3rd grader next year? Or, should I just start with my 1st grader? I'm excited, I sent in my pre-order yesterday! :)
  3. I decided on pre-level 1 for my 3rd grader as well. I'm not sure how to round out the year, though.
  4. Well, never mind. I spelled nurse wrong. And, I'm there! :)
  5. and thought I would be there! :) I guess I'll just keep posting!
  6. Is year 2, second grade? So, if I'm looking at it for writing for my 3rd grader next year it wouldn't work? I'm a little confused in looking at the samples as to what year it is for. But, the samples look really good, I just can't figure out for what grade it is used. Have you looked at it? Whaddya think?
  7. Try Lane Bryant. They have pants designed for different shapes, including the pear. :) They work great for me!! Also, Gap has different fits as well that work well for our shape.
  8. :) I guess I was thinking of rolling/spreading it out onto wax paper, turning it over onto the stone and peeling the wax paper off. Would it work?????
  9. Do you think wax paper would work? I don't have any parchment paper right now...
  10. Thanks, the link is helpful. My son doesn't sound like the person in the clip with trouble with L's, or I don't think so anyway! I'll have to have some others listen and see what they think.
  11. What I'm doing isn't working! I don't have any kind of plastic thing to roll it on. Any suggestions?
  12. I just noticed this when using SWR b/c he will want to start words like "let" or "lot" or "love" with L's. He will sound them out as R.. Then, I thought about the fact that he speaks this way too. Should I be concerned or will it get corrected with SWR and me encouraging the proper use of L's? Thanks!
  13. Ooh, thanks for this! I need this information now too. My son is getting close to the end of A. He wants to get into 1st grade math so badly. :) I don't know why b/c he is just in K.
  14. Bible and memory? I realized, in doing my planning for next year, that I haven't done any art this year. None. Zip. And, I had to wonder, if everyone does all the subjects??? If so, how? If you do all those subjects do you do everything else - clean house, exercise, feed your family, shop, bathe littles, extra activities, have a meaningful relationship with dh, and on and on? I can be on for a while with a great schedule, and then that time of the month comes or something, and wham! I loose my schedule and everything goes to pot. It takes a while to get back at everything again! Anyway... just wondering about everyone else out there!
  15. Oooh, the extension program looks interesting. What, exactly, did you get from them? It looks overwhelming to figure out what I would need!
  16. The Ambleside online group is perfect!!!!! Thanks very much ladies!
  17. I'm narrowing down how to do my artist study next year, but I really want to have a nice sized (8x11 would be great) of each artist. I got a great site for the artist info, but I need to buy a copy of the paintings. Any ideas?
  18. Thanks for replying, Amy! It does help to know the philosophy behind it. :) I'm really excited about using WT next fall!
  19. For me, I'll just do the lessons as they come along, whether ds knows it or not. :) Oh, just to further confuse things, Writing Tales does have copywork included too. It also has you look up vocabulary words in a dictionary and copy the definitions. I really like the looks of this program! I'll post a sample lesson if you want me too (not copying it, just telling you what all is included and how many days it says, etc.)
  20. I would love to send my kids to art classes!! However, I live in the boonies, and don't know of any classes. :( I do have Artistic Pursuits, but I don't feel like I have enough information about HOW to draw the stuff. I feel like it just says "Have the child draw a picture of fruit. Paint it with the water color crayons." My kids have LOVED it, when I've done it, but I just can't love it! Would Evan Moor's Teaching Art to Children have more "how to"?
  21. I do have Writing Tales 1, here is what the child does in the last lesson for grammar: Circle all the nouns in the following sentence: (lists a sentence) Circle all the pronouns in the following sentence: (lists a sentence) Circle all the verbs in the following sentence: (you know, lists a sentence) Circle the adverb in the following sentence: Circle all the adjectives in the following sentence: Circle all the prepositions in the following sentence: Circle all the confjunctions in the following sentence: Circle the interjection in the following sentence: If they learn all that next year in writing, I really don't think they need grammar. Dh looked at it and agreed with me, but I guess I still wanted more assurance, and I got it! :)
