  1. The worst thing about this tick situation is that we have been looking forward to moving to the country for years and now I am acting like such a city girl (which I know I am.) But, I am (down deep) driving my husband crazy and I am sad to not spend my free moments sitting up on our (long grass) hill and crocheting for a break or have a midnight wine and cheese picnic with dh looking at the stars. Am I just being a wimp? Just missing our old porch? Will I settle in? Will we resolve this without anymore arguments over guiney hens or pesticides? Thanks Ladies, Stephanie
  2. I guess I had been spending too much time lurking b/f the change and the (to me) intimidating new format was a good excuse to take a break from a time consuming habit. But it sure is good to get info from you smart ladies. So often, it just isn't worth asking people for info on many topics and "wtm people" think in a way that make sense to me (go figure =) Thanks, Stephanie
  3. You (and others) are right. I have only posted twice to the new boards b/c I haven't been in the mood to learn the new format (with relocating) and was speaking of past experience on the old board. I am a little embarrassed but so glad to talk. Everyone seems so involved and knowledgeable with the pictures with their nams and how do I add what type of bee I am anyway? I will learn my way eventually and every response has been kind and patient. Thank You, Stephanie
  4. ever answers my posts.:001_smile: I just (after how many months figured out how to post the smile is a miracle!) I trust the advise on this board more than that of almost anywhere b/c of all you ladies are of like "sound" minds. So, I get good information...but never on my own questions b/c they almost always get zero responses. Are my questions not interesting or controversial or fun enough? Any suggestions on how to get responses would be great but I really need suggestions on ticks... (how to get rid of them in our yard detailed.) I would link to my post of this afternoon but I have no idea how! I want the opinion of many of you b/c like I said, I know you know and are thinking people (as opposed to my neighbors, dh's coworkers etc) So...whine, whine, whine...any advise on ticks? Humble truely, Stephanie
  5. Just moved to the country (KY) and now have ticks. Never saw one in my life before. They seem to be in our grass (try to keep short) and in our wooded area. We can't go outside without finding one on us. I am freaked out and tired of looking (too many dark clothes, dark hair, black dog) and am thinking about never going outside again. I want to spray (friends recommend) dh wants to get guiney hens. I don't want their screech, and them do do ing all over our yard (I want to entertain a lot.) They are the bigger (small) type, not deer. Any thoughts about prevention? Will I just get used to them? Is this just a bad season? Please help! Thanks, Stephanie
