I have a Nutrimill and it does seem to take some time to grind the berries. I use about a 2/3 cup of berries to get a cup of flour. And mine doesn't spew flour unless the canister is getting too full or the little black spongy thing needs cleaned.

My dh will do this too if I let him, and I hate it. I've explained to him about the quality sleep thing. I'm a morning person but it irritates me if I have to hear the alarm 5 times before it's time to get up. It was only after I offered to sleep in another room that I noticed him trying to mend his ways...:D

No. I don't have time for it.

Hmmm, I didn't know about curing them. I'll try that...thank you! I am really hoping to be able to keep them w/out rotting.

So I've got a couple hundred pounds of organic potatoes from my garden. :thumbup: What is the best way to store them long-term? The basement? I don't have a root cellar.

Yes! I enjoy canning, although I do SO much of it that I get overwhelmed at times, and so weary of the messy kitchen. But it is so satisfying to see the full shelves of canned goods for the winter. I usually do peaches, pears, pickles, applesauce, apple butter, various jams, salsa, tomato juice, pizza/spaghetti sauce, apple pie filling.
A sidenote: some of my applesauce did not keep last year either. :confused: It was waterbathed and sealed, but the sealed jars grew spots of mold. Some jars were ok. So weird--I never had that happen before.

I will buy second hand shoes in good condition. Then I either toss them in the washing machine or spray w/lysol before wearing.

Financial prosperity depends so much on perspective. However, we do meet the criteria set forth by the OP. This is amazing to me but I know the biggest factor is the grace and blessing of God.
Background: I am a SAHM w/a high school education and dh only went to 8th grade, so higher education is not a factor. We've never taken government assistance (a personal decision). Dh is an entreprenuer who grew up dirt poor and took over his father's failing business (over 100k in debt) a year or so before I met him. Maybe not the wisest decision but he was very young. So we know what it is like to struggle. Eventually we got out of debt and even began a savings account. We lived totally debt free for awhile, but we now have a mortgage which we are paying off ASAP. We love debt-free living!
Some other factors: Good health. We're blessed to be a healthy family.
Work ethic. We've worked HARD.
Give some. There are needs all around.
Honesty. Dh would rather take a loss than take advantage of someone.
We live very, very frugally--below our means.
Dh is a very talented and capable mr. fixit.
We are happy and content. Dh has a heart for ministry, and his business/money comes after that--even as an afterthought at times--yet there always seems to be enough.

I love that room, her writing style, and blog music! :) Her blog has been a huge blessing to me. I would love to get to know her and her family personally.

Extra sleep, vitamin C, garlic, etc...the usual.
I also heat a small pan of water on the stove, and when it starts to steam add a few drops of these essential oils: tea tree, peppermint, lavender, and eucalyptis. Breath in the steam (keeping eyes closed!). This has worked for me many times when I felt like I was getting sick.

Someone gave me one and I barely ever use it. The bags seem so expensive and I'm cheap. My kitchen is too small to store it and I have to dig it out of the pantry each time. I have used it for meat in the past, when we raised our own pork.
It's fun to use though!! :D

I would not order something so special as wedding prints from Snapfish. Their quality is not as good as Shutterfly. I will only order from them (Snapfish) when I want pics printed that I don't care too much about and I want a deal.

My dd was recently in the hospital for surgery and once she threw up directly after taking her pain med. They wouldn't redose her until time for the next dose (4 hours in her case). They told me you never know how much was absorbed. A nurse told me she's had kids throw up immediately after giving them pills, and the pills weren't there. Freaky.

"He has located a 60-base accordion made by Rossetti. We know NOTHING about accordions. It costs around $350 - $375." QUOTE
I would say that price is reasonable. I don't know a whole lot about brands, so can't comment on quality. There is not a lot of care and maintenance, at least not in my experience. Obviously don't drop it, but other than that it's pretty much ready to play whenever you are.
He could probably self-teach very easily, esp if he already knows the keyboard. Accordians are not hard to play. There are some easy beginner books around (at least there used to be).

I don't buy anything for the kids, but we usually make some kind of special heart-shaped sweet treat. Some years I make a special meal, some years are kinda lean (like this year).
Dh get the girls each a rose, which they LOVE.
The one thing I do every year is decorate the kitchen doorway with strings of red foam hearts and may hang some streamers in the kitchen. I do it after the kids are in bed and tell them the Valentine fairy came. They look forward to it every year.

My kids take a multivitamin (Superkid) and vitamin C, both from Beeyoutiful.com. Once in awhile I'll give them a cod liver oil tablet too. This combo seems to be working really well for us--I have been so pleased with our health lately.

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing --LOVE it!
Come Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy --the tune I love best is maybe lesser known, but beautiful, beautiful words!
Come, ye sinners, poor and needy,
Weak and wounded, sick and sore;
Jesus ready stands to save you,
Full of pity, love and power.
He is able, He is able,
He is willing, doubt no more.
Come, ye thirsty, come, and welcome,
God’s free bounty glorify;
True belief and true repentance,
Every grace that brings you nigh.
Without money, without money
Come to Jesus Christ and buy.
Let not conscience make you linger,
Nor of fitness fondly dream;
All the fitness He requireth
Is to feel your need of Him.
This He gives you, this He gives you
Tis the Spirit's glimm'ring beam.
Come, ye weary, heavy laden,
Lost and ruined by the fall;
If you tarry till you’re better,
You will never come at all.
Not the righteous, not the righteous--
Sinners Jesus came to call.

We are SM members. We are a very healthy family and have only had to make claims maybe 3 times (2 births and a minor incident involving stitches but costing several thousand dollars). We received all our money each time. One of the times there was a member who did not pay, so SM assigned someone else to pay that part. We are very happy with their ministry and enjoy sending out money directly to other members in need rather than feeding the ever-hungry insurance monster.

I do have Windows but I can't seem to find the virus info...:confused:

My computer was in the repair shop, and the guy who worked on it supposedly removed AVG and installed another program. How can I tell which one it is? There is nothing about it on my desktop and I don't know how to find it.
Thanks!
if you grind your own grain, can I ask a couple questions?

I take it out (outside!) and snap it with my finger to make the flour dust fly out. If I'm grinding large amounts, like 15 cups or so, I do this every time. Once in a great while I rinse it with cold water, but not often.
I think I get flying flour from overfilling the canister more than anything.
