  1. Maybe you could try a chiropractor. I've never had shingles, but my chiro told me he has great success in treating shingles, even people who struggled with it for months. Not sure if just any chiro could help as they're all different, but maybe (if you're lucky) you could find one who deals w/shingles. Hope you feel better soon.
  2. Agreeing with Madrigrals Magic Key to Spanish! I bought it for this school year and it is great.
  3. I use stevia (Kal and Nunaturals are 2 brands that have little to no aftertaste), erythritol, or xylitol.
  4. Yes, I'm talking about the green(color) ceramic coated pans. :)
  5. I'm debating about getting a skillet. I'd love to have a nonstick pan again (I threw out Teflon long ago.) Just wondering how they hold up, and if they are actually healthy or if maybe they have some other chemical in them that we'll hear about eventually.
  6. Another Trim Healthy Mama fan here. I hesitated, but for me it's really been worth the money. They don't just tell you to eat healthy, they also explain the science behind their plan. It made sense to me. I love bread, have a sweet tooth and no desire to live without desserts.I'm so am happy to have THM healthy but tasty alternatives. I actually think I'll be able to make this a way of life. I also lost 10 pounds in the first few weeks. I will say though that eating on their plan was a steep learning curve for me and I'm *still* learning, a month into it.
  7. I've come to really like plain white. Food always looks good against plain white and you can always dress up the table with a cool tablecloth or decorations to make the mood fancier. I agree. I have the Abundance pattern http://www.microwavecookingforone.com/Corelle/CorelleAbundance.html but would love to get plain white.
  8. I have a Nutrimill and am happy with it. Their customer service is fantastic.
  9. I have Corelle. I like that it's thin, light, very durable, doesn't chip easily, doesn't take up much space. It's great for hard everyday use. The pattern on some of mine has really faded though due to the years I put it in the dishwasher, so it doesn't look the greatest anymore.
  10. My 6lb dog brushes his own teeth. We give him our old toothbrushes, and they are among his favorite toys. Many mornings one of the first things he does is jump on the sofa with his toothbrush and gnaw away. lol! He was just at the vet and his teeth were fine so I guess it's working?!
  11. Check out www.goodmorninggirls.org . Enrollment for their summer Bible study is going on now, or they have archived ones to choose from. I've done several in the past and really enjoyed them.
  12. Dh built me a greenhouse out of odds and ends. I'd always wanted one so was pretty happy about it. I start all my own veggie garden plants now (tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, broccoli, lettuce, celery, swiss chard, zucchini, etc etc anything I want to get an early start). I also start a few flowers like petunias, pansies, but I can never seem to get them started early enough that they're blooming when it's time to put out hanging pots. Actually I have an old chest freezer rigged with grow lights and christmas lights buried in dirt/sand (for heat) that I sprout the seeds in. They grow in there for awhile until the weather moderates enough that they can survive in the greenhouse--cold winters here. The greenhouse has to be heated till the weather warms up and I'm still running the heater in there at night.
  13. She is not peppy and active, but I'm not sure how well she can get around. Awhile back I heard she wasn't doing so well, but I guess she pulled through ok. Thanks for all the suggestions thus far!
  14. Help me out please? I really don't know much about her. We're friends with some of her children and grandchildren, hence the invitation. I'm looking forward to the party, but stuck on what to get her.
  15. Witch hazel works well for me. I apply it with a cotton ball. I've noticed it works best if I shave my pits every day. Not that I ever get lazy about that...
  16. You might take a look at these blogs: http://showerofroses...y-thursday.html http://alice.typepad...lenten_tea.html There are some really good ideas there. If you search around there are ideas for an Easter tea as well. A few years ago I incorporated the lenten & Easter tea into our Holy Week/Easter celebrations and it quickly became a treasured tradition. I printed out the accompanying Scripture verses and made place-card type cards out of them. These go on the table near to the accompanying foods. At the meal, we all take turns reading the cards nearest to us and passing the foods. It is definitely a highlight of our week.
  17. I just got these and LOVE them!! http://www.zappos.com/jambu-ocean-dark-navy-tumbled-nubuck-satin
  18. I have the clay but so far I've only used it in making my own translucent face powder, which I love! I haven't tried the detox, but am interested. So LMK your results if you do it! Sorry I couldn't be of help, but here's a bump for you :)
  19. I wore contacts once upon a time but it's been so long and I'm sure things have changed. What do I need to know? Are there good cheap places to order online?

  21. Thank you, OP, for the recommendation. Will definitely get some of this to have on hand! I, for one, am very grateful for homeopathy which is helping to manage my chronic disease rather than a lifetime of prednisone staring me in the face. To the naysayers: how do you explain the successful use of homeopathy in animals and plants? Surely the placebo effect cannot be a part of it for them.

  23. Eek! That could be possible too. It's definitely not a young chick anymore.;)
