Thanks for this everyone. I am wondering if everyone has the same opinion about SOS as they do about Lifepacs. My kids seem to hate SOS and prefer Lifepacs. I am wondering if SOS proves to be more challenging.

Thanks for all of your input. I did look at the samples and really think I may give GWG a try. R&S is thorough but dry. I may try GWG along with some supplements from other books.

Okay.....just want to know if anyone has used SOS or LifePacs for consecutive years in one or more subjects. I do like that this curriculum allows me to have a less hands on approach (I have six kids) but I am concerned that it is too easy. Just want some feedback from others to see if they believe their children are up to par using this curriculum. Any feedback would be helpful! :bigear:

Okay, I was considering switching to GWG......does anyone think their child is getting a good grammar background from this curriculum? I have used Rod & Staff with my others and while I do believe they have gotten a great foundation the work is just plain BORING! This makes things a little tougher to teach to children that don't have a love for grammar. Any suggestions?

Hello...me again.. Wondering what everyones thoughts are on the topic of sex ed? I have 2 older children that I have been very frank with about the subject and have done what I hope is a great job of explaining gods purpose for sex and when and who it should take place. As my third oldest has just turned 12 I wonder if I should take a different approach. Has anyone used a book or curriculum they thought was good?:bigear:

I think the reason it bothers me is for two reasons: #1 I always felt a need to explain to any and everyone why he would not respond when they spoke to him.....he likes to hide behind me or hold his head down. I read in a parenting book that people who look down and avoid eye contact have low self esteem. I guess I was worried that I needed to help him. #2 He is even shy when speaking to us. Let me explain, he will talk to us no problem about whatever...whenever. The problem is if you ask him a direct question that requires more than a 3 word answer he will avoid eye contact and look down as he speaks and talk like a baby to explain. I guess I better just leave him alone after all he is JUST FIVE! To much pressure on the little tyke. Thanks everyone for bringing to my attention that I should not bring the shyness to everyones attention!

I have a five year old who is number 5 out of 6 kids. He is extremely shy and I would like to work with him this year to overcome this. Does anyone know of a curriculum/book or suggestion to accomplish this task?

Noone seems to have seen any samples. But I checked the Scope and Sequence and compared it to the SOS Scope and Sequence and it is the same. I suppose it is great for people who need the accessibility because they travel. It is more expensive than SOS as well.

Still curious...as to whether anyone is planning on ordering this curriculum?

My only question is do I have to continue to purchase each year. For instance, with SOS when my now 6th grader reaches 9th grade he can reuse his older brothers SOS software. I wonder if they will allow you to access previously purchased grades for free or a small amount for ongoing years. If they don't this program may be to costly for us. We have six kids. Does anyone know how many students can use a Power Speak account? Just curious since the curriculum is online, if 2 of my children can both use it if I pay for only one level of language.

Which would you all suggest for a reluctant writer in 8th grade. DS sits there staring at the page. Would WWE be to juvenile for him?

I am teaching child #4 to read and have been unsuccessful. I am using Abeka as this learning method worked for the others. She just cannot get it. I am getting frustrated and she is frustrated. BTW she just turned 7 a week ago. She knows her vowel and consonant sounds but just will not and cannot put them together to sound out words. For instance la, le, lo, etc. Any advice? Any program ideas or suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

I just started using MOTH this year. Which for us started on Monday. It's better than the way we previously schooled with no schedule and all of our work is completed in the right time frame. The only problem is if we get off schedule I feel stressed. I spent 2 out of the 5 days this week feeling really stressed out if we went off schedule.

Thanks I just keep feeling like I am neglecting my preschooler. I have six kids 4 of which are schooling this year and I don't want to forget my 4 year old. I figured if I had a boxed curriculum I would be sure not to miss anything. I don't want to bore him to death with just worksheets and I am not really a creative arts and craft person.
