  1. Wow everyone thanks for your input but now I have another question. What comprehensive Spanish Curriculum would you all suggest besides Rosetta?
  2. Does anyone have a Greek Mythology curriculum or manner of study I can use with my rising 8th grader besides D'Aulaires?
  3. Me again.....wondering if anyone can give me input. We tried Rosetta Stone two years in a row and don't really like it much. Does anyone have experience with one or both of these products and care to share? If you have tried both I would love your input as well! Thanks
  4. Just wondering if anyone can help me out here. Would you choose Winston Grammar vs Analytical Grammar and why? This would be for my rising 11th and 12th graders. Thanks.
  5. I have a rising 12th grader, just wondering if anyone has some Senior Project ideas?
  6. Does anyone have a curriculum suggestion for a child that dislikes math?
  7. Has anyone heard of this and used it? It is created by Confessions of a Homeschooler Opinions please!
  8. Getting ready to make purchase of TOG. What extras do I need? I am trying to keep costs down but I want to know which addl items I need to purchase to get the most out of TOG. I am specifically referring to the Map Aids Lapbooks Writing Aids Evaluations Student Activity Packs Government And oh.....which training should I get? I get to choose one for free I would like to make the best choice or should I buy them all?
  9. I do have the Lukes Life List it is very comprehensive.....I just don't have the time to go through all of it. I was just wondering if anyone had a list they use as a guideline. My first has 1 year left before going off to school/life and I just want to make sure I have all bases covered. She is bright and seems to be on top of things. Every once and a while she will do something that makes me nervous and I think " I gotta remember to teach her that". I guess you are never really prepared for them to go.
  10. I am looking at Physics and no neither of my children are looking to go into a Science field.
  11. Wondering if anyone uses a guide or program for life skills for 11th or 12th graders?
  12. Just wondering what people think about SOS vs. Apologia for upper level science. The reason I ask is because SOS offers video experiments as well as lessons. I tried Apologia Biology years ago and it was kind of dry for my taste. I really do not know of any other Science options for my 11th and 12th grader. Opinions please!
  13. Thank you Christine. I am really excited about TOG! I will look for the yahoo groups. Thanks.
  14. Okay, I found the tests and quiz samples...I think my eyes are getting crossed, so much to absorb. I do have one more question....just curious. Does anyone create their own tests? This may sound nuts but I think my older kids are going to hate having to write their answers out. I do believe that my DC have gotten lazy due to SOS and Lifepacs multiple choice tests. I know I will have much protest over written answer tests. Anyone dealing with that issue?
  15. Am I overlooking something? Where are the tests and assessments? Do those have answers?
  16. Thanks Tracy for your reply. I tried to access the link you included but it takes me to an error page. I am downloading the 3 weeks available on TOG so I can get a better understanding of how it works. Thanks!
  17. Which years have been redesigned? And how do you know which you are purchasing? I am really interested in TOG I am just worried that it may be to overwhelming and add too much extra stuff for me to do. The question is will it be less work than my current procedure. I will have 6 grade levels next year. I just don't think I can handle planning 6 different lesson plans/curriculum without using something like TOG.
  18. I have been combing the TOG site and I have a question. Do all of the sections come with an answer key? I got the impression that there were no answers given as the goal is for the parent to do studying as well. Can anyone clear up this confusion:confused:
  19. I think I have to agree about the "logic puzzle" description. We tried for 2 years it just isn't working. I guess I will look into Visual Links.
  20. Well another mother mentioned that to avoid having extra work to do I should get the TM. So I guess what I meant was do you just figure out the answers yourself? And I guess you answered it.....the work is self explanatory. Perhaps it depends on how confident one feels about their Grammar proficiency. I think I can probably manage without the TM. Thanks!
  21. Thank you! One more question.....how do I choose a level? What ages/grades are the books used for?
  22. Yes, Spanish is the language we are looking for.
  23. My kids hated Rosetta...I know lots of people swear by it but it just isn't for us. Has anyone had success with another program that 7th Grade and Up can use?
