Well... Canadian dd wrote the SAT this past weekend :)

Recommended Posts

She thinks it well well.  I have no idea whether the universities she applies to will care much one way or the other about her having an SAT score but...  She'll have one. :)

She's also in the process of preparing an application for a VERY big scholarship here in Canada that isn't school specific.  So much crossing my fingers that it goes well for her!

And I'm still working towards a start date of Fall 2018 for online high school chemistry courses for homeschoolers. :)  I need to get the website set up so that I can have folks sign up for an email announcement as to when registration will open up.  In addition to the Reg and Hons Chem courses, the Organic Chem/Biochem course that I'm creating for dd for this year seems to be going well so I should have that ready to go, too.

So busy.  So little sleep.  But it's "chemistry busy" so that makes it fun. :P :D

:hurray:  Yay, so glad to hear about the progress on your future online chem courses! Can't wait to learn more!!!   :drool5:

Also glad that you're having fun this year too! Sounds like you're in your happy place.  :)

"dd wrote the SAT" is a little amusing to American ears . . . we "take" the SAT, and would be pretty impressed to find out your dd wrote it

My youngest, not usually a chemistry fan, is taking a DE course at the university this year, chemistry as shown in tv and movies, and really enjoying it. I have heard a lot about eternal fire on Game of Thrones, and how it compares to what we know of Greek fire, and possible ingredients for both. They're currently working on group projects to explain what might be in certain fictional concoctions, based on the known properties. dd's group is doing Chemical X from Power Puff Girls, lol, but their reasoning has to be chemically sound.

Best of luck to her in the scholarship competition! Non-school-specific, that would be awesome.

Is it the Loran? My ds is working on his as well. Where does your dd want to go?

We homeschooled until grade 9, when we moved across the country, so I haven't been on this board in a few years. I am getting a little overwhelmed with scholarship and university applications so I thought I'd hop back in and see if any other Canadians are posting.

That's too funny! :D  I hadn't thought about it but yeah - I would tend to say someone "wrote" an exam or test instead of "took" an exam or test.  Dang Canadians - we're so weird! :D

That sounds like a cool group chemistry project!  I love it when people have fun with chemistry. :)

Thanks for the good wishes!

Yup - the Loran. :)  Dd is thinking either McMaster, UVic, or Western.  She just knows "far away from her rural little home town so she can experience city life". :D

It is overwhelming.  I think I've got all the course descriptions up to the end of Grade 11 done for dd in case someone wants to see them.  I've also got a one page transcript done up.  I need to get something done up that summarizes her extracurriculars and awards in, hopefully, one page as well.

Have you ever looked at the Scholarships Canada website?

http://www.scholarshipscanada.com/

You can search by scholarship name, field of study, school of study, etc.  You can also browse by field of study, school, or country.  Worth taking a look at. :)

Good luck to your ds! :)

My Canadian son just took the SAT last Saturday too [emoji28] (I'm American and Dad is Canadian). Great luck to your dd! And can't wait for your Chemistry course.

We'll send each other good thoughts as we wait for the scores to be released. :)

I'll put you on the list!

I am in my happy place.  My weird, nerdy, I-love-to-teach-chemistry-to-people happy place. :)
