sixlilmonkeys
Hi All, I am looking for a program that is very user friendly, open and go type curriculum for studying fallacies. I am looking for middle school/lower high school level. What would you recommend? If you would like to share your experiences, that would be awesome too! Thanks so much! SilverMoon
Art of Argument. Hands down. Followed with Argument Builder. Both from Classical Academic Press. Edited August 20, 2017 by SilverMoon
RootAnn
Art of Argument. When I've used it, I prefer to teach my kid and a small group of 3-4 others around the same age. It is more fun to do as a group, IMO. We do not use the video and we cover it in a semester. The CAP web site has suggested schedules for different lengths of the class. jwoodbri
I definitely want to the The Art of Argument with my son who is starting 7th grade (just turning 12). But for some reason was feeling like I should do Fallacy Detective & Thinking Toolbox first. Anyone have experience with both? Do they overlap? RootAnn
I've done Fallacy Detective & then Art of Argument. You don't have to do FD first at all. AofA stands on its own. There is overlap - and some difference of what to call which fallacy. FD is very informal at our house - very snuggle on the couch, all out loud, talk through things. AoA could be like that, too, I guess, but that's not how I run it. It definitely has more meat to it.
