Loesje22000
I have an American kindle app. (= linked to my American Amazon account) When I read an English book I can touch a word and the linked dictionary gives a definition of that word. Can I, in the same account, realise this option for French books? So linked to a French-French dictionary? Anybody have a link with instructions how to do that? That would be fabolous for next schoolyear :)!
RootAnn
Okay, I don't know if it is a default or how my dd did it, but she has some Spanish books on my (American) Kindle (paperwhite). When you click on a Spanish word in her Spanish book, it comes up with the Spanish dictionary definition (in Spanish). Okay, dd said here's how she did it: On a kindle (not sure how you do this on an app), click Settings. One of the menus is "Device Options" - click that. Click on "Language and dictionaries" Then, there is a "dictionaries" setting ('Set the default dictionary for each language') to click. Our English is set to an American dictionary. Our Spanish is set to a Spanish dictionary. We don't have any French books and maybe that is why there is no option for French (or German, etc.) ETA: I downloaded a free book in French to check this. Once it downloaded, my Kindle automatically downloaded a French-to-French dictionary. It automatically set up an option for French books to default to the new French dictionary. I just don't know how a Kindle app handles this.

Loesje22000
I tried last night. So suddenly I also have a Spanish dictionary :) But not a French ... Maybe I should try the helpdesk... But, I'm a little bit afraid they wanted me to change my Kindle app to amazon.fr and that will have consequence for my 'books' in English.
