Dmmetler
DD9 is in the process of writing up her first interval's research results (the study will take at least one, if not two more active seasons to complete, so this is just the first stage), and she said she wants to do a poster. My first thought was that we could get a posterboard and some markers, go for it, but she made it clear that she wants to do a conference-type poster. She's found some templates online to put her stuff into, but we don't have a printer that's anywhere near large enough. I'm sure the college does, but I get the distinct impression that she wants to surprise her mentor. So, is there any good service to send these things to and have them printed? What's a reasonable price?
SparklyUnicorn
A place like Staples could do something like that.
mathnerd
We have used Kinkos and a local printing store for it. Both had good service and matched prices. The price depends on the size and we paid around $40 for ours a year ago.
hellojwolford
I used our University's plotter. Most universities have plotters in a central location so that the entire department can use them, so she might be able to print it there on the down low with the aid of a grad student. Otherwise, kinkos will print them - but yes, it's pretty expensive. BTW, be sure to convert it to a PDF before printing!
EndOfOrdinary
A UPS store will do it as well. Around us they are the only place and the price reflects it. If you go into The Big City though, the competition keeps the price down.
Incognito
There is a cheap way to print big, clear things at Staples. I think it is architectural draft printing.
