Dmmetler
I just got an e-mail on this yesterday. DD is bored with the ELE, so I'm thinking this would be a good challenge for her this year and some of the other kids who have done the whole ELE, but may not have yet had a full high school Latin program (DD is doing CLC, which is definitely lighter than most Latin courses, but is great for her at this stage). Plus, it's online, which is a plus. http://www.njcl.org/pages/on-line-tests-nlve
acurtis75
I saw the email yesterday and plan to check in to it for DD. We did the Bible Bee online and she likes doing online tests. I haven't looked at the study materials or anything yet but put it on a list to check in to next week.
Dmmetler
DD is planning to do the NCEE again, and she really enjoyed that one last year. I admit, I like the online tests better-register, pay, have the kid do the test (those are NJCL, so the proctor can't be a parent, but we do them at the public library on a day without storytime), and you're done. Since it's not until the Spring, I'm thinking that she can prep for the NCEE until she takes it in November, and then start on the NLVE lists. I think there's a lot of overlap. acurtis75
We had to have a proctor for the Bible Bee and parents weren't allowed in the room. Dh and I laughed about that because we couldn't have helped her with a single answer since she studied and we didn't. I am a fan of online testing because when you're done, you're done. No mailing in score sheets and waiting months for results. The email reminded me that I'm not sure I remember getting results from the exploratory latin exam so I've got to dig out my file. I know we received the medal for mythology because it's hanging up in the classroom but I can't remember whether we got Latin results. Dmmetler
The ELE results came about a week after Mythology here. They usually do.
acurtis75
Just dug out the file and the certificate and ribbons are in there...apparently I forgot to tell dd about the scores and give her the award.
Crimson Wife
The online FAQ for the NCEE said that the proctor could be a parent, just not the teaching one. I was planning on having DH proctor. I suppose I could always ask around my HS support group to see if anyone wants to meet us at the library and proctor each other's kids. Dmmetler
I go to the library because by the time DH is home from work, DD is DEFINITELY not ready to take an exam ;). We actually go there for other tests, too, even ones that can be proctored by a parent, because it seems to make it more "formal" when it's just us. Otherwise, DD tends to assume that she can ask me questions through the test.
