Moxie
My kids hate dull crayons and, really, who can blame them?? Dick Blick has an electric crayon sharpen that is $50 and I'm sooo tempted but I could buy a lot of new crayons for $50. Do you sharpen crayons or just toss and start fresh? Beth in Central TX
I'm not sure which sharpener you are looking at, but I use the battery operated one shown here for $5: http://www.dickblick.com/zz228/38/ and it has worked well for the 5 years that we've been homeschooling. The sharpened crayons look just like the one in the picture. HTH!

I use a cheap lip liner sharpener. Lipliners are waxy-ish, the sharpeners are cleanable.
abbeyej
We have a Crayola manual crayon sharpener that I bought for about $1. But I'm bad. I hate old crayons too, so I tend to donate them and grab a new box. (I stock up on boxes of 24 Crayola crayons for .10-33c a box at back to school sales.) ticklbee
I've had crayons get stuck in the electric sharpeners. The last time I had to take the whole thing apart to get it out. Just pick up a few of those cheap hand held plastic pencil sharpeners and keep them in w/your crayons. They do an adequate job, are easy to clean and if crayons get stuck inside and you can't clean it out...you haven't lost much. Staples usually has them on sale around this time. Mississippi Missy
Crayola has a box of 120 crayons that comes with a surprise in the big box, a "non electric" crayon sharpener.
Tammyla
We use the one on the back of the big box... I prefer a new box just because they are so perfect...
