Stayseeliz
We're getting over having the flu and my 8yo is coughing her head off. I'm pretty sure she has bronchitis but from what I can tell there isn't much that can be done for it? Should I even call the ped? Their answer will be "She needs to be seen" and of course I don't mind taking her in but is there even anything they can do? We leave for my parents' house for Christmas in 4 days so I'd really like to knock this out if we can!
LMA
She needs to be seen. The dr. has to listen to her lungs to determine a diagnosis. Sometimes they give antibiotics for bronchitis. They can give her something for her cough. If she is coughing a lot, she could still be contagious, so you really need a diagnosis.
lexi
I would go in. My dd had bronchitis and it turned into pneumonia. She needed meds. The meds helped right away. Bronchitis sometimes requires antibiotics if its bacterial. They really helped my dd.
TravelingChris
My bronchitis is always bacterial. I always get antibiotics and they always help. Bronchitis after flu is often a bacterial problem so I would get her in. If nothing else, you should get help for her cough including inhaler. Stayseeliz
Thanks. I'm going to try to get her in today but it might be tomorrow. Dh is completely down with the flu and I'm still working through it too. I honestly don't think I have it in me to get her there today. :-(
