Jules
I just got several pounds of dried beans, all kinds. They are white, red, cranberry. I would like some recipes to use these in. I have made up large batches of refried beans, so I have that. I would like a recipe for a good baked bean, using the dried beans and anything else that would use these for. Thanks. amyco
I would probably just use them all for chili. I like to cook dried beans in the crockpot. Then after they are cooked, make your chili recipe. I don't have anything standard, I just use whatever I have around. Also you can cook up the big batches of beans and freeze them in small containers to use later. That way you are only cooking them once. Beans freeze really well, imo.

CalicoKat
Great Northern Beans w/ Leek & Bacon http://www.recipezaar.com/great-nothern-beans-with-leeks-and-bacon-363006 Just tried this with my family this week and they loved it. I subsituted onions for the leeks as I didn't have a chance to get to the store. My children loved it too. Lentil Bulgar Salad http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Lentil-Bulgur-Salad/Detail.aspx This is a family fav. It's great! Very refreshing. Crockpot Chaulupas http://www.familycrockpotrecipes.com/chalupas.html chicken or turkey substitute very well. Another family Fav. Because I have littles and holding a burrito can be frustrating I make it into a layered casserole. One layer flour tortilla, chalupa mixture, cheese, tortilla, etc. Kinda of like a mexican lasagna. Bake until it's bubbly and serve hot with a bowl of nachos. Yum! Edited May 2, 2009 by CalicoKat added another recipe

Shelly in the Country
Calico Beans. There are lots of different recipes floating around for this one. My latest issue of Cook's Country has a great version I made this week called "Block Party Beans". Just replace the canned beans in the recipe with cooked dry beans. It's kinda like a cross between baked beans and sloppy joes. My dh ate it this week spread into a whole wheat tortilla and rolled up like a burrito.
