WyoSylvia
My ds is just finishing up the K book so I getting ready to purchase the 1st grade workbook. To save on shipping I thought I'd look into the 2nd grade workbook and I was wondering if it is necessary. From the sample pages on their website it looks like copywork. Is there more to it than that? Would copywork be covered enough in FLL when we get to that? (If I understand FLL correctly.) Thanks in advance. Samiam
The thing to remember is that HWT is a handwriting program....if FLL includes copywork, that is a multi-purpose task, ie yes, handwriting, but more about "learning how to create writing by copying work". So the answer to your question depends on if your child has nice handwriting, if you are satisfied with it. Because HWT is going to help with the actual task of learning how to form letters, and in 2nd grade, practicing that task. If your child needs help with letter formation, then you should continue HWT. If you feel that your child has mastered letter formation, then the copywork would be enough to just practice what they know.
KathyBC
We have done HWT K & 1, done copywork in 2, gone back for HWT cursive in 3 & 4, done copywork in 5 and then called it good enough. But you know, I'm not completely satisfied with anyone's letter formation, so maybe you don't want to do that, lol.
