3littlekeets
them without having the mom abandon the nest. The nest is in a flower pot, but I"m afraid that if I move it to get into my gardening tub with all kinds of things I need now, she'll abandon her nest. I'd rather have no flowers and lots of weeds than kill the babies. And, if we let it stay, how long until Finch eggs hatch and babies fly away? Michelle T
but I would think if you lift it VERY carefully, take what you need, and then put it back, mommy bird will probably be okay. We are very protective of the nests around our house too. Once we were having the whole outside of the house painted, and made sure the painters knew where there was a nest they had to be very careful to avoid! Blueridge
I think they only take about 2 weeks to hatch, and then you could gain a great opportunity to watch the little ones spend a few weeks growing and thoroughly exhausting their dutiful parents before they fly away. :) Ginger
