Cricket
Are all the book selections going to make me cry? We started with The Rag Coat. I kept pausing to compose myself. Dd kept saying, "Keep reading, Mom!!" I know one of the other ones has to do with a grandpa dying.
Heather in Neverland
Yes they do...especially the Rag Coat. Who Owns the Sun? is another major tear-jerker.
Jennifer in SC
I can't read The Rag Coat without crying through most of it. Every.single.time.
Aubrey
I pre-read & skip those. We don't do much FIAR. LOL But if something makes *me* cry, ds8 will *never* make it through. I had to turn John Denver off the other day, for crying out loud. "Leaving on a Jetplane" is sad, if you listen to the lyrics, but what 8yo boy *does*??? mamaof2andtwins
Yes, that is a tough one. We started with Ping. It isn't quite so heart wrenching. :) Jennie
Tree House Academy
My son is a lyric listener too! He listened to "I'm Going Home" by Chris Daughtery and cried. When I asked him why, he told me that it made him think of when someone he loves dies goes to heaven (he mentioned particularly a certain grandpa). :( The Giving Tree and A Tree Named Steve make me cry every single time. D*mn children's literature! LOL
DarlaS
There are a lot of FIAR books I can't get through. They don't have the same effect on the kids. They were quite upset by the injustice of Ping getting a smack just for being last. Someone had to be last. Poor little Ping!
