Heather in Neverland
you've completed Alpha through Zeta with no problems? Do we need to go through Pre-Algebra or can we go straight to Algebra I? Will my ds miss a lot if he skips pre-algebra?
Alyce
There are a lot of basic concepts that are taught in the Pre-Algebra that are only touched on lightly or not at all with their Alg 1 text. MUS itself recommends doing there Pre-Algebra for the same reason I've stated. I really don't think either one of my children would have been able to handle the jump to Pre-Algebra. Alg 1 does assume that a lot of the basic concepts have already been learned.
Pam L in Mid Tenn
MUS PreAlgebra is really the introduction to Algebra 1. I would not skip it all together. You could watch the DVD and do the practice pages without doing workbook pages D<E<andF, if your student catches on and understands.

Ruth in Canada
but that means you really do need to do pre-algebra.
Larissa
and see if your child knows what he needs to know to place into algebra. Pre-algebra generally does begin simple algebra, but some kids seem to intuitively know this and can begin algebra. Larissa in NJ
