HeatherM
I just read some good reviews on the Guerber Histories for young children. Has anyone read any of them? Did your children enjoy them?

Using them this year in conjunction with SOTW and KFE. I think dd likes them. I wanted to add a little to her history as she is doing SOTW for the the 2nd time. I think it's working. MorningGlory
We are reading aloud Guerber's Story of the Thirteen Colonies right now and will soon start Story of the Great Republic. We enjoy them thoroughly, but I would not recommend them for very young children. The books seem a perfect fit for my 8 and 11 yo boys. HTH! Narrow Gate Academy
My oldest loves them and has been reading them on her own for a couple of years now.
Debbie in OR
We have all of them except Thirteen Colonies and we love them. They are a great read-aloud for 8-11 yo or could be done independently for an older child (like both of the above posters said). She has an easy, narrative style (usually about 1-3 pages for each area she's addressing), the pages are clean and uncluttered with a larger font size (which I love), and there are b/w pictures throughout. Excellent addition to any history study. Edited March 26, 2009 by Debbie in OR
home4fun
Using them this year in conjunction with SOTW and KFE. I think dd likes them. I wanted to add a little to her history as she is doing SOTW for the the 2nd time. I think it's working. Did you make up a schedule to use with SOTW? Did you have your child write up a summary of it or outline it? I would love to use them, but am afraid they will end up sitting on the shelf if I don't plan them in weekly. Thanks for any help you can offer. Angie (home4fun)
