Would you recommend it? Anything else for music elementary age?
SnowWhite
Yes, yes, yes! We love it to bits. Both little boys really get into our music time. It's going to be pretty cheap to continue the program for the little guy too, since the workbook is only like $8 or so.
...................
At first I was totally thrilled with it. It is affordable, easy to use, teacher friendly, covers music reading, theory, appreciation, and then teaches the Flutophone and Recorder in higher grades. But we did not like the music, and the lessons seemed needlessly long. My kids like classical, Christian Rock, folk, Bluegrass, and Hymns, and they really disliked this style of music. I didn't like it either but I thought the simple sing along music would appeal to them and it didn't. But my ending thought is that it's so affordable you should try it because it really is well done and teacher friendly.
SnowWhite
Just to clarify, the God Made Music program *does* use classical music and a few hymns, but every lesson will also include some folk music or sing-along music (like Farmer in the Dell or The Old Gray Mare). I'm not sure why the lessons seemed long though. Ours are usually 15-30 min.
GreenKitty
I just noticed this is only 1 years worth, for some reason I was thinking this covered the elementary years. So, I'm looking for something else.
