Nestof3
I bought these glass "cracker" jars for my rice, lentils, different kind of beans, wheat kernels, popcorn kernels, etc. I labeled them. I love this sort of thing. But, the glass is so heavy. I am assuming plastic is bad for storage, right?
LNC
I use the plastic rubbermaid square canisters for flour, sugar, popcorn, and brown rice. It is just too heavy to have those huge amounts in glass. Smaller amounts of staples like other grains, beans etc. I leave in the bags or put into glass canning jars. I think plastic is the worst when you heat it up and it leaches into the food. That is what I tell myself anyway!
Nestof3
Thank you! Anyone else?
LaxMom
I use qt or 1/2 gallon mason jars and don't really find them heavy. I don't care for plastic, though, so it's pretty much the norm for our house; leftovers go in vintage glass, lidded dishes, etc.
joannqn
I have 8 of those large gallon-size glass jars. I put rice, beans, oatmeal, and dog biscuits in them. The rest of my pantry is stored in Tupperware which is designed for food storage and stacks nicely.
