amsunshine
I am dusting off my French-speaking skills to teach my dc the language, and I've come across a couple things I have questions about: 1. In the song, Sur le pont, D'Avignon, the dvd Bonjour Les Amis has the second line as: "On y danse, on y danse." However, I learned the second line as: "L'on y danse, l'on y danse." Which is the correct line...the one actually learned/sung by French children? 2. I'm trying to remember the correct context to use "on" instead of "nous". For example, if I wanted to say, "We are going to take a picture", would it be better to say "Nous allons faire une photo" or "On va faire une photo", or are the phrases interchangeable? Merci! C_l_e_0..Q_c
Sur le pont d'Avignon > both versions are sung equally. on/nous -> that's tricky. Cause French is is more precise on formal/informal speech than English. On is informal. Nous is semi-formal to formal.

Jackie in NE
Ooh, Ooh... I think I know this one also... 1. I learned "On y danse", although either is grammatically correct. 2. "On" is often used for a command. So I would say "On va prendre un photo". Don't you love french!? Il n'y a pas de quoi. :)
