Dear Classical Writing Tutorials families, Registration is now open for current Classical Writing Tutorials families for the 2009-2010 school year. You may register any students in your family for next year’s tutorials. Registration will become open to the public on February 16. Fees and registration remain the same. See class listing below, or visit Classical Writing Tutorials. These courses can also be wonderful teacher training for home educating parents – we welcome adult sign-ups! Aesop, Homer, and Poetry for Older Beginners Live Tutorial Beginning narrative analysis and writing instruction offered to students 7th grade and up. This two semester course will cover the Fable and Narrative levels of the Progymnasmata, using Classical Writing's Aesop and Homer series. During the second semester, beginning poetry analysis and imitation skills will also be taught using Classical Writing’s Poetry for Beginners. Class meeting time is Tuesday from 3:00-4:15, EST. Diogenes: Maxim and Intermediate Poetry Live Tutorial Beginning essay analysis and writing instruction offered to students 7th grade and up who have completed Classical Writing's Aesop and Homer. This two semester course will cover the Maxim level of the Progymnasmata, and apply them to the modern five paragraph essay, using Classical Writing's Diogenes: Maxim. In addition, we will cover several units of Classical Writing’s Intermediate Poetry during the second semester, with the aim to complete Intermediate Poetry along with Diogenes: Chreia the following year. Class meeting time is Friday from 12:30-1:45, EST. Diogenes: Chreia and Intermediate Poetry Live Tutorial Advancing essay analysis and writing instruction offered to students 8th grade and up who have completed Diogenes: Maxim. This two semester course will the Chreia level of the Progymnasmata, teaching advancing essay analysis and culminating in the modern expository essay using Classical Writing’s Diogenes: Chreia. In addition, we will cover several units of Classical Writing’s Intermediate Poetry during the second semester with the aim to complete Intermediate Poetry along with Herodotus the following year. Class meeting time is Friday from 11:00-12:15, EST. Herodotus Live Tutorial Argumentative essay analysis and writing offered to students 9th grade and up who have completed Diogenes: Chreia. This two semester course Classical Writing's Herodotus covers the Confirmation, Refutation, and Commonplace levels of the Progymnasmata. Expository essay writing will also be reviewed. Class meeting time is Friday from 2:00-3:15, EST. Intermediate Poetry Live Tutorial Beginning and intermediate poetry analysis and writing using Classical Writing's Intermediate Poetry, offered to students 7th grade and up. Material from Classical Writing's Poetry for Beginners will be covered so that this course is appropriate even for students who have not previously studied poetry. Students should have some basic grammar knowledge and be proficient in retelling a narrative. Class meeting time is Tuesday from 3:30- 5:45, EST. It'll be so nice to have someone else teach it. :iagree: My dd will be in there also. I suggest buying the books now to pre-read. I can't wait to get my hands on the Poetry book.
