Pam "SFSOM" in TN
I know what the 1611 represents, but what are the "differences" b/t the KJV and KJV 1611 edition? Please share your insight. Thanks. Sheryl <>< Well, the original 1611 had the Apocrypha. Is that the kind of difference you mean?
Guest 4boys
I *think* most of the difference is spelling. When the original came out, there were no real spelling rules in English yet so I think it was updated later (which is still a long time ago now) to include accepted spelling. However, if I am correct, I think some of the newer updated versions have other changes as well. I have read articles about it which I could find again if you are interested. PM me if you want. Donna T.
The 1611 version also had a preface that is no longer included in the KJV. It's very interesting reading and clarified that the translators believed that the Greek manuscripts were the inspired Words of God ... they did not think that their translation was superior to the Greek. It's an important distinction. We are "KJV only" and I only recently learned that some "KJV Only advocates" teach that the KJV is SUPERIOR to the Greek. Well, that's not what we mean when we use the term. Regardless, the preface is available on line if you search for it.
