Pine Ledge Academy
My dd is 9 and has no learning problems that I can see, but consistently drops her helping verbs from sentences. Any suggestions besides constantly correcting and making her repeat her sentence correctly? sample sentence "We been hiking in the woods." Is it just something she will grow out of, laziness? Thanks. bookmomma
I'm afraid that you just have to keep at it. Have you taught her lessons on helping verbs in your grammar work? Start there, do a lot of practice sentences, then just keep reminding her. I went through three years of speech therapy with my son, and it comes down to repitition. Also make sure you speak clearly as well to model good speech.

Parrothead
Are you guys in the deep south where she hears others speak that way?
Pine Ledge Academy
We are in NC, not the deep south to southerners, but the deep south to this New Yorker. I can't understand people here sometimes! So I will just repeat, repeat! Thanks!
