alysee
My youngest two school aged kids are in Grade 4 currently. We are working our way through IEW Level A Yr 1. For next year I was hoping to streamline writing by putting all 4 of my kids(next year they will be in 8, 6 and 5) in level B Yr1. Would that be doable? My 4th graders are good readers and there's no issue there.
HomeAgain
I wouldn't do it. It's not about being good readers, it's about cultivating good writing habits. I think level A is appropriate up through early middle school, but I also believe writing should be "easy", with plenty of time to practice steps while developing vocabulary, interest, and imagination. I think you are better off doing a themed IEW year and having the 8th grader do all the extension projects than you are increasing the difficulty on the two younger ones.
kirstenhill
I agree with HomeAgain. A lot of the theme books are more flexible as to level and have A level assignments with B level "extensions" or modifications.
