Ann.without.an.e
I would like DS to take an official programming course. I'm considering Fundafunda's scratch programming course. Any thoughts on this course or any suggestions for a different course are welcome 🙂
Malam
I'd recommend python for a highschool student. Do you need something with live teacher interaction? If not, there are more free resources for python than you can shake a stick at. Does he have any subject or hobby interests? Here's python learning material: https://futurecoder.io/ https://scrimba.com/learn/python https://www.codewars.com/ https://runestone.academy/ns/books/published/thinkcspy/index.html https://automatetheboringstuff.com/ https://programming-23.mooc.fi/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfscVS0vtbw https://www.freecodecamp.org/learn/scientific-computing-with-python/ https://docs.python.org/3/tutorial/interpreter.html https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/6-0001-introduction-to-computer-science-and-programming-in-python-fall-2016/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYXdXT2l-Gg&list=PL-osiE80TeTskrapNbzXhwoFUiLCjGgY7 https://www.py4e.com/ https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLlrxD0HtieHhS8VzuMCfQD4uJ9yne1mE6 https://greenteapress.com/thinkpython2/thinkpython2.pdf https://artofproblemsolving.com/assets/pythonbook/# https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxSyXBq9zq0&list=PLlEgNdBJEO-nQkFDah-gm6UX7CI6rCdB- Paid: https://www.udemy.com/course/100-days-of-code/ Edited February 13, 2023 by Malam
Guest
My DD loved AOPS Intro to Python. Many on this board have recommended the course.
Atlas
After trying a couple of books and online programs to teach my DD how to code, the closest one to what I would have designed myself for her is AlphaStar's CS21A. I'd recommend it if you want to teach computer programming as primarily problem solving.

Clemsondana
From what my kids tell me, Scratch is an easier language - a lot of kids do it in early middle school. My kids did Fundafunda's scratch in middle school and then my older did python in...I think 9th grade.
