Piecing together a program has driven me crazy for the past three years. I need 1st, 3rd and 4th grade. Any recommendations would be appreciated! Stacy in NJ Posted December 15, 2008 Share Posted December 15, 2008 How about using: For your first grader: Spelling Workout FLL WWE For your 3rd and 4th grader: Spelling Workout Writing Tales for composition and grammar Wordly Wise for Vocab They're all pick-up and go, workbooky and easy to implement. Just use them on what ever level your child is currently working. I would combine your 3rd and 4th grader at the same level for Writing Tales. I switched to it at the beginning of the school year because I, too, was getting tired of piecing together grammar, spelling, penmanship, etc. CLE covers everything for me and it's working great. Tree House Academy Posted December 15, 2008 Share Posted December 15, 2008 We use LLATL...but we add GWG and WT II AND spelling (two different programs combined). I would not use LLATL alone...as a matter of fact, I am not really sure that a great "AOI" program exists for English. For me, as someone who holds a BA in English, seeing what needs to be pulled together to make a strong program is not terribly difficult. I am confident enough in my ability to teach English that pulling from here and there and everywhere doesn't bother me one bit...and I feel it makes our program stronger. However, if I were not an English-y person by nature, I may totally feel different. I know a lot of people here use R&S, Shurley, and BJU as stand alones.
