Chelsea1919
Hi there! I'm trying to compile a comprehensive list of classical Christian history curricula. Can you please add your favorite program to the list with reasons or specifics as to why you'd recommend this program and what ages/grades you recommend for if applicable? Thank you so much! cintinative
Is this for your own use? If so, can you give us some information about your kids? ages, interests, etc.? If not, you would be better to do your own research as to what is offered and then ask here about opinions. Also, you can check out a copy of The Well Trained Mind from the library and see what Susan Wise Bauer recommends.
Chelsea1919
Hi there! It's for my own use. I have The Well Trained Mind and have read through it a few times! I'm looking for a specific history recommendation that blends the events of history of Christianity with the history of Western Civilization. I'd prefer something not text book style and something our family can go through the history cycles for as they get older. Currently my kids are 5 and 8. Thanks! Chelsea1919
Also, I'm trying to make a list so I can then research each one individually, look at samples, etc. I've tried Googling extensively and feel like I'm probably missing programs that don't rank high in searches. lulalu
Elementary ages- Veritas Press incorporates Bible and church history. They also have Bible that is separate too. We have enjoyed it very much. Mystery of History
domestic_engineer
OP - have you looked at Cathy Duffy’s website on curriculum? She has programs listed that aren’t necessarily popular with Google or here. Also you could see what curriculum Rainbow Resource sells as a jumping off point for your research. Off the top of my head, I thought of Biblioplan. Diana Waring’s curriculum too - BUT - it’s geared toward the middle/high school crowd rather than elementary. An energetic mom could adapt it for littles, but I am not an energetic mom! Simply Charlotte Mason or Living Book Curriculum *might*. I haven’t looked at their materials past the ancient time period.
Emily ZL
If you're Catholic, which it seems like maybe you aren't, but there is Classically Catholic Memory RC History's Connecting with History TAN's Story of Civilization Rev Furlong's series (How Our Nation Began, Pioneers and Patriots, et al)
momofabcd
Biblioplan fits what you are looking for. So does Mystery of History. Edited April 25, 2021 by momofabcd
