Gamom3
I wanted to use this year and cover geography. The curriculum I purchased was not a hit. I thought about pulling things together on my own...which is not happening. I need something to follow. Dc are 5th and 7th graders. I need to find something asap! they love making the maps. I just don't know where to turn!

I just don't know where to turn! What are you using for history? I normally jump off whatever I am doing in history as my geography study. TOG aids me in some of the mapwork, and I add some. Why not to the BF Geography. It looks really good, although I have not done the Lesson Plans I have read most of the books and they are excelent. You could get the books easily from the library and just pick up the guide, it's priced under $15 I believe.
sagira
If you don't mind the workbook approach, NG's Discovering World of Geography looks like a good one. It has for grades 5-6 and 7-8 as well. Depends on where your children are and what you would like to cover.

...................
The TEN DAYS IN... game series was NOT made to be an educational game. Therefore it is actually fun. But it is one of THE MOST educational games we own!! (and we own 200 board games!!) It's so fun (we rated it a 9) and I learned all my European and USA geography!! Now I am working on Africa, and I probably need a refresher on Europe!! It is awesome!!!

newlifemom
The only Geography we are doing this years is what we get in SOTW. Normally I find a workbook and go with that. Though I am interested in the stuff the college prof recommended. Maybe next year.
