Books about the French Revolution

Recommended Posts

My son is going to into the 4th grade, and hes  loves history. This year, I'm giving him more input into what he'll study. He'll be doing modern history, beginning with the French revolution. He said he would love to read a biography of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. (I'm kind of stunned -- in the past when I asked what he wanted to study, he just grumbled that he didn't want to study.)

Can anyone recommend a good book? a biography would be ideal, but also I'm looking for books on the French Revolution in general, and the years following the revolution. Historical fiction could also be fun.

I don't mind if the reading level is above 4th grade. He reads very nicely and has a strong vocabulary. I'm just having trouble finding much at all. So far I've seen that the "Who was" series has a book about Marie Antoinette, but I haven't found much else...

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
